You don't take a Taser to a Gun Fight!
Setting up camp for a few minutes is one thing. They didn't go in for HOURS.
"Look, I am a sniper and I could hit a hand at 25 yards with a pistol. Obviosly it it was moving it would be more dificult. "
Look at the below quote. There isn't any room for error for a situation like that. You take out the threat. Even for a very good marksman a 25 yard shot to something as small as a hand with a pistol under that kind of pressure is very hard and comes with a very big chance of missing.
"pulled a handgun in class and briefly took another child hostage was shot by a SWAT team member Friday when he later threatened deputies, Seminole County officials said."

"
You...you..I could train in about 30 minutes to shoot a moving target, say a 1 foot circle at running speed, at 25 yards. "
I don't buy this for a second. I'm a decent shot but that took years of practice. I don't think I could hit that shot more than a couple times out of ten. Nor could most people I know. I really doubt you could turn someone into James Bond in thirty minutes.
Oh please. Give the whole gun paranoia a rest. You know EXACTLY what I meant but choose to be offended.
Like I said earlier, real life is not a paper target. You sir are the idiot. Most cops are not snipers and most are just average marksmen. I happen to be a very good shot through years of practice and dicipline and have never had to confront an armed person and I do not know for sure how I would react if I ever am.
Ok having reviewed the story, he took another student hostage. In that case there should be no question that he is fair game.
But the remarks about shooting a quarter at 50 paces are just stupid. Put me in the biggest bathroom you have ever seen and I will shoot a hand gun sized target on the first shot from the holster no doubt.
You having some experience shooting it would be a bit harder(have to untrain your bad habits) but I guarantee if you can see to 25 yards without difficulty you can shoot that moving target. As long as you don't have some shaking nerve problem. And you know what? You do it enough that it becomes muscle memory, you will make that shot in any situatio no matter the pressure.
I am not a Sir, I work for a living!
Ten years of grade school down the drain.
Have you ever fired a gun?
Why yes I have and obviously a bit better than you if you have ever fired one.
Your tax dollars made me good at it.
I did watch this on a "Reality TV Show" where a suicidal man with a gun had it shot out of his hand by a Police sniper in America.
I was just responding to another post.

Probably not with a pistol.
Nope. He was a sniper with a rifle and scope.
I had this sitting around at work from a few weeks ago.
This is at about 5 yrds drawing from a holster and firing.
There's a few .45's but most are 9mm.
And yes, I did shoot her in the throat once.......oops.
was her throat the first shot? If not you win and she is a happy lady.
I've seen that footage on TV. SWAT teams *hate* that particular piece of film because it sends the message that 1 in a million shots like that one are routine and can easily be pulled off.
"But Dei-end Dilworth, who was in a reading class with the boy, said the gun was stuffed in the waistband of his pants when she saw it. ... Dei-end said she heard two gunshots after the boy ran from the classroom. .. The boy had tried to start a fight with a fellow classmate on Thursday and that may have been why he brought the gun to school, Dei-end said. ... Devonte Small, a 7th-grader at the school, said he was in a disciplinary class when he saw the boy run past. ...WTF are wrong with these people.. "Dei-end"?!? Is her brother's name is "Da-beginning"? And "Devonte"??? Gee I can't imagine why he'd be having "disciplinary" problems.
Sheesh, do these 'parents' buy a "Stoo-pid Baby Name Book"? Or.. "Baby Names Guaranteed To Embarrass Your Child Forever"
