BONEHEAD PLAYS MAKE DEMS LOOK LIKE DUMBS (Senators make Martha-Ann cry)
NY POST ^ | January 12, 2006 | DEBORAH ORIN

Posted on 01/12/2006 8:03:42 AM PST by Liz

Congratulations, Democrats. You managed to make Supreme Court nominee Sam Alito's wife cry.

If there was a stupider move in the Democratic playbook, it's hard to imagine, although there sure were plenty of dumb moves as Dems vented their angst ...........Sen. Ted Kennedy exploded in a little temper tantrum that showed the acute Dem frustration over the calm, reassuring, everyman image projected by Alito. ........Dems trying the hardest to trip up Alito seemed more interested in the sound of their own voices bloviating than in getting real answers.

On the first round of Q&A, Sen. Chuck Schumer spoke 3,471 words in questioning Alito — Laito's 1,166 to reply.......Kennedy spoke 3,282 words---Alito' reply 1,557. And Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) hit the record with 3,739 words, while giving Alito time for just 1,021.....

Yep.

They made Judge Thomas's wife cry too.

More reason to "love" liberals.

What's funny is I went over to DU this morning to lurk and see what they were saying about this.

None of them see a problem with it. I can't believe how politically naive they are.

He should ask drunken Teddy "What's your point?"

kennedy had to be coached not to say "Alioto"
well, I guess if he couldn't call and say the word "help" back in 1969, what should we expect?

Yes, but after a tirade of degrading insults from the likes of Ted Kennedy, the pillar of virtue. Guess she broke down seeing a decent man finally apologize for the Dems on the panel.

Graham.

I totally understand Mrs. A in this regard. You can put up a great front while they are brow-beating your husband, calling him a closet bigot, racist, mysogynist . . . because you can just be mad. But, once someone says something nice, and apologizes for the despicable behavior of the questioners, THAT'S when composure falls apart.

Been there, done that.

Hey Mr. or Miss Wordsmith?... Alioto is not a word! Don't give Kennedy any extra credit for that when you count his words for him!

Kennedy: Mr Scarlita, I, er, want to ascertain whether you, er, were present when President Carter and ,er, a certain rabbit, um, were passing rules to keep, er, Dominicans from driving, um, speedboats in the Potomac, and er,...
Alito: Senator, why don't you pour yourself three fingers of Shut the **** Up.
Biden: Senator, why don't you pour yourself three fingers of Shut the **** Up.

It was Lindsey Graham of SC. Keep on eye on him - he may have higher political aspirations in the future.

Perhaps inadvertently, the GOP has discovered the mechanism to prevent "Borkings" from now on. Every candidate will have his family sitting right behind him. When drunken sots like Kennedy start character assassination, the spouse or kids will start sniffling, as if they're going to break down and cry. The inquisitors will have to stop to to avoid creating another "Mrs. Alito" moment.

I wonder at the author's liberty with the word "mainstream" when using it to describe Diane Feinstein. Even DiFi, when posing questions to Judge Alito, said... "I want to go back to Roe, of course..."
