Few publications are as American as Readers Digest. Somewhat incongruously, however, RD feels compelled to bestow a European of the Year Award. Yesterday the magazine announced that this years European of the Year Award goes to the Dutch member of parliament Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
According to RD Hirsi Ali is the person who best embodies the contemporary expression of Europes values and traditions. Bob Low, RDs European Bureau Chief of Reader's Digest, commented: It has taken a young woman born outside Europe to show Europeans the sort of courage and determination that is needed to confront extremism and to uphold the values of tolerance and justice that we hold dear. We are proud to honour her.
There is no doubt that Ms Hirsi Ali, a member of the Dutch Liberal Party VVD, is a courageous woman. There is no doubt that Europeans can learn from her courage. There is no doubt either that she embodies the contemporary expression of Europes values. And that is exactly the problem, because Europes contemporary values contrary to Americas are those of antireligious secularism.

How come anytime I see a news story with the phrase "there is no doubt" in it I immediately start to doubt what I am being told?
You should not doubt too much. Hirsi Ali is indeed one of the most courageous women in Europe. We can be proud of her since she is the proof that not all people who immigrate to Europe are brainless Islamiacs. She fought with verve against the intolerance of some muslim idiots. I hope that we get more people like her into Europe to stabilize our shrinking society.
I am surprised she is still alive. I am sure she will always be in danger of being murdered.
Prediction: most europeans won't learn anything from her. They'll continue to lick the boots of the islamofacists who kick them in the face.
Sad but true. She needs a whole army of bodyguards in the meantime to save her from muslim scum. All those guys where it is obvious that they use violence to spread their crazy ideology should be taken immediately to the South Pole.
But she is wrong where she equates any criticism of feminism and gayism by religious people to inhumane treatment at the hands of Muslims.
She is an opponent of both Muslims and Christians.
