Maybe so it won't look so bad on the evening news, CA officials can say they were "pining for the fjords".(Obscure Monty Python reference for those who are scratching their heads)

I would take it a step further and ask if a difference of two deaths per 100,000 is statistically significant? My hunch is that it is just so much background noise, statistically speaking.

I fail to see a problem there.

Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero,
Off topic, but she is the slimeball who believes that CA rape laws don't need to be changed when they deny that rape can occur on an unconcious person. Thus, we have the notorious case of a 14 year-old girl who was given a date rape drug that caused her to lose consciousness. Her rapist, a 16 year-old, got off scott-free because of the looniness of this law. Since the rape of the 14 year-old, he has committed a second rape against a 12 year-old.
The 14 year-old girl appeared before a senate committee chaired by Sen. Romero to appeal for the law to be changed. True to form, Sen. Romero rebuffed the request claiming that other laws were on the books to protect rape victims.
To date, the rapist is still walking the street free with NO criminal record. He has never served a minute in jail for his vulgar crimes, despite openly admitting to them. Neither girl has received justice from the CA judidical system, thanks to Sen. Gloria Romero.

probably suicides related to "P.E.S.T.".(IOW, Bush's fault) Not the DNC's fault for putting up such a poor candidate?

I realize that prison inmates don't get a lot of sympathy around here...and most don't deserve it. But my guess is that the dangerous thug predator gangsters aren't killing themselves, rather I suspect it is the weaker, non-gangmember, maybe mentally ill, perhaps nonviolent types like drug-offenders, who are unable to adjust to violent, gang dominated realities of prison society.
In other words, the "right" inmates aren't killing themselves.

Where are the girls' so-called "fathers", in all of this? I think I'd be in prison on a murder rap, myself.

Well, being most of them have connections to drug abuse, why wouldn't many kill themselves?

"Are we really that nationally depressed; to the point that it's only 2/100000 more depressing IN prison than OUT of prison??" I think you're looking at it backwards. It's not that living "free" in America is only .002% less depressing than living in prison. The sad thing is that prison life has become so pansy-waist lib pampered that the it is only .002% more depressing to be inside than out.
At first I was thinking that our Democrat friend in this story was concerned about inmate suicides because they would lose DNC voters. Silly me, I soon realized that when a person dies it doesn't remove a Dem voter form the rolls, it guarantees one. So, I guess that's not the reason.

Let the bleeding heart idiots perform mouth to mouth on the AIDS infected rapist who is spewing slime from his nose and mouth. The thought of saving this scumbag and putting my own life in jeopardy would never enter my mind.My only concern is that I find the body hanging before it gets cold and stiff. If that happens you have to explain why you didn't notice a dead body hanging in a cell for eight hours when you supposedly checked the cells every thirty minutes.
