"If everybody lives to 1000, the first thing that would go would be children. Won't be allowed."
True.
That, and real estate would be an even better investment.

They have no cure for cancer, or Heart disease ,or Aids, They cry that antibiotics arent working and Virus's are becomeing more deadly, They lose people in the hospital with staph, The chance of a 100 year old person tooling down the road at 100 mph frightens most anyone and this idiot saye we can live to 1,000. I would like to make him a bet on it , but neither of us would ever live to collect.

For my eyes only. I would never #### and tell.

Didn't Helen Thomas already acheive this distinction?
I think it's a tie.

Amen to that! I have already lived longer than I want to. I am reaching the point that I can't wait for this crappy life to be over.

"It would not be good for any kind of progress, especially in science. All the tired old theories would hang around along with their proponents. They say physics advances when the old generation of physicists dies."
True with anything.
Just imagine how bad Ruth Bader Ginsberg would be 810 years from now.

It won't happen, God said so after Adam sinned. Methuselah only lived to 969.
When Methuselah had reached the great age of one hundred and eighty-seven years he became the father of Lamech. Following this he lived the remarkable term of seven hundred and eighty-two years, which makes his age at his death nine hundred and sixty-nine years.

Nah... I am not into horror movies. Reality stinks as it is, without enhancements.

I wouldn't want to live to be 1000 years old unless I could do it in the same shape/health I was when I was 22.
And even with that, living that long would get tedious.

One day they'll be right.

I'm pretty sure our body parts will fail no matter what. So, barring some sort of organ farms or type of regeneration, 1000 year old humans are going to look like this:

I'm thinking about a 80/10 400 year ARM. I should have it paid off by the time I'm 434, so then no more mortgage!

Ooops! God says only 120.
Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."

Just think of how much more horrible it would make it if someone dies "young". It would make death much more feared than it even is now. And in the meantime, we'd all make the same mistakes that we do now, and as others pointed out, we'll get still more stagnated in our ways of thinking. And at the end of it all, we're still dead anyway.
Does anybody really give any thought to what the goal of this would actually be? Just "advancing" for the sake of "advancement" is pure blindness.

Yes, but dead isn't unpleasant. At least as far as we know. In fact, if you are a believer, dead is better in many ways. Living to 1000 may result in 940 of unpleasant dying. Besides, it is how you live that matters: "Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased in the bonds and chains of slavery? Dear God forbid it. I do not know what course others may take, but as for me give me liberty or give me death."
Or to put it another way; "I'd gladly take ten seconds in the saddle than a life time of watching from the stands."
