What's the alternative? Of course, this wouldn't be good for society. We'd never hear the end of the baby boom generation.

"Because of all the things you could see, not to mention, you could really watch the world change over time."
Nah, human achievement would slow down.
Age of majority would be 200 or something.
People would hold onto property for hundreds of years --- economic stagnation.
The young would be in near permanent poverty, as they would be behind by simple math of compound interest.

Oh drat, I just turned 60. Guess I'll only live to 999. Wonder what 999 years of Social Security checks add up to? You youngsters better start earning a lot of money......

I just noticed the source of this column.
The good news: You'll live to be 1,000
The bad news: You're in Toledo, Ohio

Didn't Helen Thomas already acheive this distinction? Yeah! Sometime around 1920.

Yeah, that was a great time huh? It took forever to get all the stains out, though.

My uncle told me something similar. When I die, I don't want people saying "he really looks good". I would rather them say "boy he used that sucker up!".

If you make a lot of optimistic assumptions, living for 1,000 years might be desirable.
