Christmas with girlfriend's parents = $1500.00

Christmas with Beer, Scotch and Football = $100.00

Christmas sleeping in without the pressure of an engagement ring, Victoria Secret bills, and the prospect of lifetime commitment = PRICELESS!!!

So that's what happened. You write a pretty good rant when you're not gettin' any.

If a company uses the "your better off buying a new one", people will buy new ones....from competitors.

I know people who bought new XBoxes after their old ones broke. Why? Because they have many games for their XBox, and it is a better investment to buy a new XBox than to sell their games and buy a Playstation and replacement games.

As for my iPod - well, I can tell you that I will not be buying another one in the future and am not recommending it to anyone. On the other hand, I know a few of people who think the iPod is the greatest thing since toilet paper (it's even the same color), and have already gone through two and are on their third.

Not lonely, I intend to cuddle with my X-Box. I have found it actually likes to talk dirty to me.

"I've learned several foreign languages from reading the 100 or so warnings that manufactures have to stick on everything to protect themselves."

Do you actually read that rubbish?

Instructions are for when all else fails!

This may not be the appropriate thread for this post, but its close enough. I started thinking about the whole mega- holiday thing. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, comprise about 45 calendar days give or take. I realized that I enjoy Thanksgiving, look foward to New Years Eve, and struggle with surviving Christmas. I started to put this in perspective and realized that if Christmas was celebrated in a more spiritual way I would enjoy the whole season. Consequently, I consciously avoided making a big deal out of the material aspects of Christmas. For the first time in 57 years I didn't put up the obligatory Tree. This had a calming affect on my psyche and was then able to ignore my thoughts of what gifts to get everybody . Wednesday I took the grandkids to "the mall". We didn't buy anything, just rode the merry-go-round and took a free picture with Santa. I started to feel real good. Christmas Eve eve My daughter and I worked out at the gym, and then went to wal-mart and bought some gifts. Just for the kids. We decided that we wanted to put up a nativity scene at the house. I'm not a church goer, but I am religious and am a Christian. Do you know that we couldn't find a nativity scene at wal-mart. We could find endless Santas, nutcrackers, candy canes, tree ornaments, lights, glitter, fake snow, snow villages, reindeer, sleighs, and on and on. I always knew that Christmas spirit was lost in materialism, but I never realized how insidious it was until I chose to stop the madness. When you can't find Jesus on Christmas, something is wrong! In looking for Jesus that night, I found myself. You see, I liked the family get togethers on Thanksgiving, and the rebirth of New Years, but I couldn't stomach the desecration of the spirituality of Christmas. Please understand, this is not some holier than thou rant, its just a personal anecdote designed to recount a personal revelation. I found a nativity scene today at home stores. It was about a foot high made of red clay, with baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph inside. Its on the coffee table in the living room..........Merry Christmas .

How has liberalism changed Christmas since YOU were a kid?

My toy guns weren't painted orange and squirt guns looked like real guns instead of plumbing tools.

Every boy had a cap gun.

Slinkys were made of metal, not plastic.

Dad's coffee was made in a percolator on Christmas morning, not a gay "expresso" machine.

We sang real Christmas carols in the school Christmas play.

When driving around looking at Christmas lights, we stood up in the back seat so we could see better over the front seats.

We cut our own tree from the woods behind the house.

We used a shotgun to get some mistletoe down from the high branches where it grew.

The only liberals I know are Christians.

Yah, but will they admit it publicly (that they are Christians)?

Christmas is about the Christ; liberals are about nothing except that which is immoral or anti-American.

My mother is a Democrat and is one of the most dedicated Christians I have ever met.

Think about liberal women you see on TV (Helen Thomas, Molly Ivins, Susan Estrich, Eleanor Clift, "Hips" Clinton) ... not exactly women you want to dream about ... unless you enjoy having nightmares.

I know a bunch of conservative that think they are Democrat. I said "liberals"; not democrats.

Well, they're seen going in and out of church, so I suppose so. I've never met the kind of liberal of Free Republic myth: Unwashed, unemployed, nomadic activist who hates children, kittens puppies, and sits around wishing horrible deaths on our soldiers abroad. I'm not even convinced that such a creature truly exists.

Oh my gosh!! You didn't really want to go to SLO town. It's my birthplace and so pink I can hardly stand to go to hemodialysis up there. If they don't have a city ordinance against watching Fox News, they're dreaming one up. Al Francken was a big hit at Cal Poly in September. I thought they were going to give him the keys to the city. Whatever happened to my sleepy little "cow town?" Someone stole it while I was in the big city. Another pinko, leftist, liberal, commie plot.

Sounds like you made the right decision. And you're not alone. You've got us Freepers.

I have every type of screwdriver made, so that isn't a problem. However, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get items out of the packages that have plastic that a razor sharp knife won't cut?
