Not surprising.......I think we are seeing a new "Axis of Evil": China-Russia-Pakistan-Iran-other assorted Islamofascists. Interestingly, the ChiComs have been developing roads, building infrastructure, and generally buying influence in Africa. I think this last step is designed to increase Chinese influence in the UN and create puppet states in the process.

Deploy the Seawolfs to hunt and kill their subs NOW. Send the converted Ohios, SSGN 726 and the SSGN 72, on their "shakedown" cruises early next year to the likely hot spots with a full compliment of sub and surface killer armaments, all of which were designed to kill precisely the Soviet Navy type craft being built.

Accelerate the deployment of the airborne laser 747s, just the way they did with JointStars in 1991. If we've got some test hardware for THOR put it up on a Delta now and get it operational. And set in motion, very publicly, plans to move the new F22A squadron to Japan.

Then call in all of the loans to Russia. If they don't pay up sieze their assets.

Russia Builds Chinese Navy -- and we pay for it!

What a deal!

Is this what the New Democrat Third Way "progressive" globalists and their useful idiots mean by "raising everyone's boat?" Is this the Davos world?

As this article helps prove, China is going to be the major threat to the United States in the coming years. Combined with the threat of North Korea, the Islamic world, Venezuela,Russia, etc. we are going to be faced with quite a threat.

Kind of like Mordor, vs. Gondor (the US) as it were.

And China is using Russia just like Sauron used Isengard.

$2.2 billion. Lets put this into it's proper perspective. China is a very large country. 1.3 billion people. Two way trade will total roughly 1.2-1.5 TRILLION dollars. The 2.2 billion dollars will represent a tiny fraction of China's total import volume. Overwhelmingly, China's trade is non military.

The weapons acquisition of these naval ships hardly constitute a massive arms build up but simply reflect a legitimate construction of a comprehensive force for national defense.

Can someone help me out and give me a dollar value of naval purchases for much smaller countries like Britain and Canada? Or other large developing countries like India and Brazil?

My understanding is that Russia still spends more than China on their military. And Russia's economy is between 1/4 to 1/3 the size of China's and the population is about 1/9 the size of China's.

I feel sorry for the Chinese, given the poor quality of Russian subs.
