For those wondering, I managed to get on by speed-dialing during the first hour, telling the screener my story, and then he told me to call back at 2. I kept re-dialing until I got through. Once again, all of this support is great. FR really does great things, so I'm proud that you're all welcoming me to the community.

My dad works a union job. Just wanted to tell you all that my parents are excellent parents, but they are extremely misguided when it comes to politics. While my mom ducks the issue a lot, my dad is the liberal.

I heard it live, and I would say the young man has a lot of intelligence. He thinks before he answers.

My bet is he may end up employing his relatives at some point.

fwiw, it just did not pass the smell test when I read it. I may be way off base. Time will tell.

Give it a rest. I actually HEARD that segment. It was the real deal.

Eh, he's 16 and rebelling against leftie parents by going pro-Bush. I say give the kid some slack.

Is he rebelling since he is taking the side of the majority? It seems to me his parents are the rebels and he is trying to straighten them out.

My son, age 23, says he's an anarchist. He goes to protests and marches, etc. You should hear some of the "discussions" we have at OUR house!

However, I leave reading material in the bathroom, like Ann Coulter's books or "Disinformation" by Richard Miniter or "Do As I Say," and he's actually reading them and learning some things.

It's gonna take some time but eventually I'll have him indoctrinated. :)

Plus his Blog checks out.

Easy to spoof a blog if you have planned it from the get go.

Please, do not get angry with me. I am just in a contrarian mood tonight.

Don, you think that Rush would have employed a 16 year old to rant about his parents, and let me guess, he got a crack team of web designers together to build a blog... ya right. IM me (AIM: RightontheRight) or email right@rightontheright.com and we'll chat. This wasn't planned at all.

Hey Justin -- it's cool that you're a Freeper. My 17-year-old daughter just signed up a week ago. She asked me where I learn all the political stuff I'm always spouting off about. I told her to start lurking here and next thing I know, she actually registered. I think her user name is conservativexcore or something...

Anyway, welcome!

When I was about nine, I first became aware of the radio talking about "parties." Thinking they were fun parties like birthday parties, I asked my Dad about this. Since he was/is a liberal he told me the guy on the radio was talking about political parties and then explained about the parties by saying the Democrats were for the poor and working people and the Republicans were for greedy rich people. I swear that at that age, it became hardwired into my mind. I didn't shake that notion until AFTER high school when I read copies of National Review at the library. I couldn't understand how anybody could be a Republican so I at first read the National Review for laughs. However, in stark contrast to the DUmmies whom I satirize in my own blog, I realized that instead of laughing at conservatives, I started laughing at the foibles of the liberals thanx to reading National Review (and later American Spectator).

I think the problems with Liberals is that like me back then, political notions are HARDWIRED into their heads. Some of them investigate outside the Liberal Bubble like I did but most do not. Maybe the Rush Limbaugh subscription will expose your folks to things outside the Liberal Bubble.

Justin,

It came through loud and clear your parents love you and you love them. We may poke a little fun at your parents (specially Dad) because of their liberal mindset but we mean no harm or disrespect. After all, they did raise you to become a conservative so their belief system can't be totally liberal.

Maybe your Dad is a liberal much like my ex mother in law. When questioned specifically on the majority of liberal talking points she's actually a conservative. She's against abortion, against gun control, thought we should have taken Hussein out in the first war and so on. Yet she votes for the Dem's.

Welcome, RealTeen!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are among friends, even though we sometimes have our little- interesting- spats.

IMHO, you are waaaayyyy out ahead of the parent/child template. You have, of course, heard the old saw, "If you're not a Dem by the age of 18, you have no heart, and if you're not a Republican by the age of 30, you either have no brain, you work for tax money, or you're in the Entertainment/Academic Industrial Complex" or something like that .... ;>)

Yes, but it's even worse in today's day and age. The liberals now seem heartless, even to teenagers. Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone.

Hi, RealTeen,

You had a great conversation with Rush today. I have a lot of Democrat friends who disagree with me because they think that they are comkpassionate (with government ie, taxpayers' money) and conservatives are grinches. One good argument against this perception is just to ask them why the Welfare Reform Act was so successful in the 1990s. President Clinton signed it the third time it was sent to him (and now takes credit for it - that's okay.) There only 1/4 as many people on welfare as there were in the Nineties - which means that a lot of people have learned what it feels (good liberal word) like to be productive, instead of dependent. These new workers have helped our entire country to be more productive.

If that argument doesn't do anything, ask them to explain how democratic compassion has helped the residents of New Orleans, Baltimore or Detroit to name 3 cities that have had democrat administrations ever since the War on Poverty was started in 1965.

Tell them that true conservatism does not see people as groups but as individuals who are worthy of respect. Part of that respect is an acknowledgement that if they are asked to act like adults they are more likely to do so, then if they are excused of all their immature behavior.
