Family Ties. The producers had him display a picture of Nixon on his nightstand to show his conservative credentials. If there's one thing that stands out about that show (and I loved it), it was the association of the GOP with Nixon. Of course, this was during Reagan's presidency...
Smell test part 2
Did not get a hot number to call back? Got connected twice in one day? Folks try for months to get in once
Yep, UNION employment explains why you can not have a debate on the issues with your parents.
Your debating with your dad's wallet when you are talking politics.
His pay is connected directly by the politics of the left that the union uses to influence his paycheck.
That's where your parents are really coming from in case you've wondered.
Hi Justin,
Let me tell you, I have the same trouble with my Dad - Lifelong Dem and Union Steward for the Santa Fe Railroad. The last time we cough, cough, attempted a political discussion, he immediately changed the subject instead of supporting his allegation. This type of arguing continued until things became so heated, he stormed out of my house and we didn't speak for 3 months. No kidding.
However, what I truly want to say is Merry Christmas, Justin. I hope the holiday is blessed for you and your family.
You have email, RealTeen.
Welcome to FR. Enjoy your stay. This place will certainly sharpen your debating skills.
Dang, I didn't refresh. I see I was the one billionth person to tell you it was Family Ties...Do I win a prize? :)
SIGH! Give it a rest, PLEASE! Plus you didn't even HEAR the show today.
You're starting to sound like Ebeniezer Scrooge. Lighten up.
don-o sounds jealous. It's like he tried to call Rush a bunch of times but was never successful and is now upset that Justin got thru fairly easily.
Wow!! I am sorry I missed this. I haven't finished reading the whole transcript, but when I saw this, I had to react:
Justin, it sounds to me that at least some of this is inspired by basic male competition. At some deep level, your father sees you becoming a man, and for whatever reason, it really bothers him. He will soon no longer be the alpha male.
Just my two cents, and now I will return to reading the transcripts. It sounds like one of Rush's legendary calls. How to give advice in a situation like this?
But Justin, if you are a Freeper, PLEASE freepmail me!
Also, please ping me on stuff like this, PJ-Comix, if you don't mind.
Now I can't remember how I found this thread, if I was checking pings or just browsing, so sorry if you had pinged me.
With young men like this, there is yet hope to save the Republic.
Woo-Hoo. Sorry I called you Scrooge:>)
I talked to Don, and explained to him that I just got lucky, by speed-dialing and getting through. It was truely an experiance that will influence events in my life for the months to come, and I partially understand his skepticism. Thank you all once again for your continued support.
Good job Justin! Now where is the STOP plug?
That is the name my sisters hang on me. I am trying to do better,
Family Ties was a good show. I understand your statement. I was making light of the situation. :)
"liberals now seem heartless, even to teenagers"
Yes? But that's good news, J. Maybe it's because the Dem attitudes/reactions haven't had a chance to, shall we say, congeal, yet? Or ... The more I watch Harry Reid, Pelosi, Dean, et al, the more I wonder if they are really on the Republican payroll. They are so incredibly offensive and childish, the more they rant, the better the Pubs look.
It would be really inspiring to me, if your statement were broadly true!!!!!!!! James Taranto thinks your generation is quite conservative, due to The Rowe Effect. I think maybe he's correct.
Justin, you are a very bright young man. Someone get this boy a Freeper screen name, if he doesn't have one yet!
And I thought Rush handled this very well. I wish I could borrow him when I have some issue come up with my kids. Maybe he could branch out into Dr. Laura's territory, LOL! ;)
(j/k: he is way too needed in politics)
LOL! You bet. I think I'll swing by before logging off tonight. :)
Um... Check out Reply #23. Justin ALREADY is a Freeper since October with the screen name of RealTeen.
