Because you haven't found evidence of something doesn't mean it's not there. You can suggest it and you have as much possibility of being right as being wrong. If you insist that it "must be the case" then you are being foolish.

Or if it is there -- it is so different we won't comprehend them anyway. Very possible that the"evidence" is right in front of our faces and we have no way of recognizing it.

The folks doing this may be very nice people but they are kidding themselves about the utility, value or prospects for success of this effort.
