Democrats' Choice

Republicans have discovered what may end up being a most powerful weapon in next year's congressional elections: leading Democrats' own words.

A new video Web ad by the Republican National Committee sent out to activists and state parties features the simplest of formats. We see a TV screen in an undisclosed location. Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean is pictured, and we hear him on a San Antonio radio station last week saying, "The idea that we're going to win this war is an idea that unfortunately is just plain wrong." A white flag flies across the image, and Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., in an appearance on Fox News Sunday says, "the withdrawal ought to start now, right after the elections."

Then Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., is shown on CBS' "Face the Nation" accusing American soldiers in Iraq of terrorizing women and children. The scene pulls back, and we see a U.S. serviceman dressed in fatigues watching the screen.

The message "Our Country Is At War" is shown, followed by "Our Soldiers Are Watching . . . And Our Enemies Are Too." Finally the screen says, "Message To Democrats: Retreat And Defeat Is Not An Option."

Sounds like a terrific ad.

BTW, I just came across this in the grocery story, it's a real product. Do you think it was inspired by Kerry?

I just watched the ad at

http://www.cagop.org/

It's tremendous!

They should saturate the media with it, THEN let's see what is the approval rating is of the Dems vs. President Bush.

It's high time the Republicans are starting to fight back -- it's so easy, all they have to do is quote the Defeaticrats and make sure people understand it.

"our soldiers are watching and our enemies are too" was exactly the point.

Excellent ad.

What's really funny is the Dems' characterizing of our quoting them as mean-spirited. They claim that us amplifying what they say is a dirty trick.

Actually we are just quoting them exactly and pointing out what it really means.

They can't stand the truth.

Hehehe- Colmes tonight, was whining about taking the quotes out of context. Trouble is, the MSM has pumped the quotes so thoroughly and diligently, everyone knows the meaning is true.

Yep, the Dems are insane at best, extremely disingenuous at worst.

And in other news, water still flows downhill.

The RATS have been squealing like stuck pigs (an apt analogy, imho) about this ad. It must scare the hell out of them to think the American people will see what they really are.

The sword of the tongue is a powerful thing, so powerful that if one is not careful they could easily cut their own neck.

Yes, how dare we repeat their own words back to them. They should be thankful the GOP is so meek.

They aren't out of context and the truth is what they really think is much worse than what has been quoted.

But there is certainly a sizable segment within the Democratic Party that sincerely opposes raising the white flag in Iraq.

Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., has been so supportive of staying the course that Vice President Dick Cheney quoted him in a speech last week to soldiers, and there are reports he is being considered to succeed Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

LMAO! The same Senator Lieberman who is persona non grata in the Democrat party?

Good article. I do disagree with this, however: "Whether [Hiliary's] support of our armed forces is authentic or a posture taken to prepare for a presidential run is yet to be seen." I think we all know it's pure posing.
