Acting on a tip from his brother, on Monday December 5th, Police in St. Petersburg Florida issued an bulletin for a suspect in a series of robberies of donation kettles. The man, Lee J. George, 41, was described as a crack addicted ex-convict with a long criminal record. Lee was identified in surveillance video. One robbery attempt was foiled by a feisty 69 year old bell ringer, but four other strong arm kettle robberies were successful in the last few days. St. Petersburg Police were able to identify a car used in the robbery, as stolen from a restaurant on Thanksgiving Day. This car, with Lee J. George's body inside, was discovered upside down in a shallow canal.
Investigating officers said it appeared to be a single car accident, having veered off the road late Monday night.
