Until we get that border fixed, they're not only in the Americas, their in America. We simply MUST end immigration from terrorist states if we want to get serious about this effort. At least that's my opinion on the subject.

Trade 'em one for one for Al Qaeda members. At least we know whose side they're on.

Government as a whole is the problem, this isn't a democrat or a republican issue, nearly all are a failure as far as the border is concerned.

Latin America is home to a sizeable and diverse Muslim population

Excluding Brazil and Argentina, Latin America doesn't really have any Muslim population.

drugs and terror is a scary possibility. imagine the coca dealing colombians linking with osama and hezbola, who then move on in through mexico.

NEED MORE MINUTEMEN.

Until we get that border fixed, they're not only in the Americas, their in America.

America has about 10 million Muslims. Latin America, from Chile to Mexico has about 3 million (Most in Brazil and Argentina).

There are a lot more here than there.

An article from this link says there are none in Venezuela and Colombia.

I don't even think Suriname is in Latin America.

I wasn't aware of the exact numbers in South America, but I believe it is a good idea to keep an eye on what's going on.

There is a concerted effort to take new gound, and I think we're kidding ourselves if we don't acknowledge it.

You are correct though, it's a problem at home that almost nobody wants to take serious.

Suriname is located just to the north of Brazil on the Caribbean.

I stand corrected. Suriname is in Latin America. The link I gave above incorrectly listed Suriname as being in the "Asia & Pacific" region.

Anyway, the link I gave shows that Suriname is 25% Muslim.

I'm not sure how correct the author of the article is about Islam running rampant in many South American countries, but shortly after 9/11, I remember there being several articles discussing terrorist money laundering operations around the Paraguay/Brazil/Argentina border.

While Suriname may be listed as 25% Muslim, I believe it has a large number of immigrants from the Indian subcontinent who likely make up a sizeable percentage of that Muslim population. I also believe they have been in Suriname for awhile, so the Muslim population in Suriname is not a recent phenomenon.
