Suriname is located just to the north of Brazil on the Caribbean.

As post 17 shows, Suriname is indeed in South America. It was formerly Dutch Guiana. It's sets between the former British Guiana, now knows as Guyana, and French Guiana. British Guiana had been a Dutch Colony as well, until the early 19th century when it became a British colony.
