British Columbia Lesbians Determined to Extract More From Knights of Columbus

EDMONTON, December 2, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The two lesbians who succeeded in getting a BC Human Rights Tribunal to grant them $2,000 in damages from the Knights of Columbus for the “humiliation” they suffered for being denied a hall to celebrate their same-sex “wedding” are appealing that decision. They want to extract much more from the Catholic men’s fraternal association and make an example of them.

Meanwhile, a web-logger (blogger) has analyzed the decision and circumstances of the case and concluded that the Human Rights decision was “pathetic” and a “travesty” of justice.

In reading through the decision, Bob Tarantino at Let It Bleed noted that “The three panellists furrowed their brows, quoted a whole bunch of irrelevant case law, contradicted themselves about a jillion times and then, when not even that mash-up could get them to the result they wanted, they just made it up.”

Catholics should petition to use a Gay-Lesbian meeting hall for a worship service, bible study, and boy scout meetings.

Odd, I was under the impression the Property Rights would kick in. As the Knights of Columbus is a religious organization, their assets should be managed in a manner that is aligned with their church's beliefs.

So, can I rent the hall for a Nazi party, NAMBLA fanclub meeting? Can I have an Abortion Now meeting in this hall? If I can do these things, then the lesbians may have a case.

If I can not have these type of meetings, I fail to see how the Lesbians got this through the court system.

The equal housing law may be applied in FL, depending on what county you are in. You could be forced to do the same thing, because hall rentals here fall under hotels. Hotels can't "discriminate".

We all know in the US you can sue anyone for anything. There are only two KoC halls here, one is rented frequently, I am glad my council doesn't have a hall.

There will probably come a time when the Human Rights Commission will send people to concentration camps for being Catholic or whatever, and they will burn huge stacks of "unapproved" books in the public square. Excellent Idea. Let it begin. Then I guess they'll cite separation and kill our right to the first amendment... as i'm sure they receive government funds.
