They try and they try to denigrate our president, any way they can. But the words still echo - "we are seeing the rise of a new generation whose hearts burn for liberty, and they are going to have it."

That's probably the longest continuous sleep they've had since before their freshman year.

Exactly what I was thinking as I looked at those pics. ;-)

That would have been the '78 Enterprise cruise, don't remember which A-7 squadrons. I had the Integrity watch for the Handler going through the Straits of Malacca. What a great cruise - Perth was AWESOME!

'78? Could be the same guy.
Perth is great! I was there in'77, and the biggest problem I had was paying for beer. No problems drinking it, just a lot of Aussies chose to 'shout' and no mistake, they would rather fight than let me pay!

Canada's largest paper, the Globe and Mail, carried the second picture on the front page. Pure media propaganda. Is it any wonder, newspaper sales are down and trust in the MSM gets lower and lower?

I don't blame them. I was in boot camp and to every opportunity to sneak a nap.

As the ad says, "they do more before 9 AM than most people do all day."

Looks like some midshipmen need their butts kicked.

ONLY when they play Army! One rule of being in the service is eat and sleep every chance you get, you never know when the next opportunity will come. I can still fall asleep in 30 seconds, anywhere I have some downtime.

"You catch naps whenever you can. I remember the days of sleeping while standing in formation."

Thats a skill everyone tried to master. That came in handy more than once for sure. To this day I can catch a 10 minute nap in a chair and wake up feeling great.

It drives my wife nuts because she can't do it no matter how hard she tries. She has to have complete darkness, complete quiet, just the right temp, etc.. I just close my eyes, kids running past me making noise, tv blaring, ...it's a gift. :)

Geez, that’s even worse than I expected. “Battle Weary”??!?! What an obnoxious lie. They’re Naval Academy midshipmen!! And they’re tired because they’ve been waiting so long to hear from Bush when they can leave Iraq, which they’ve never even been to.

That’s really despicable. I can’t imagine why anybody would pay real money for such a rag.

My son went through Annapolis on an average of about 5 hours of sleep each night. Cadets never waste a minute.

Are you sure your son went there, because when I was there they called us Midshipmen.

Some things never change...

They are actually training for future duties in the Marine Corps. For Marine grunts especially the golden rule is... never pass up a chance to sleep, eat, take a dump, or get laid... you never know when you will get another opportunity.

That's a little like what my (Navy) Company Commander taught us on boot, "never go to sea sober, you might regret it".
