· Vice-president accused of backing torture
· Claims on BBC by former insider add to Bush's woes
Lawrence Wilkerson, who served as chief of staff to secretary of state Colin Powell from 2002 to 2005, singled out Mr Cheney in a wide-ranging political assault on the BBC's Today programme.
Mr Wilkerson said that in an internal administration debate over whether to abide by the Geneva conventions in the treatment of detainees, Mr Cheney led the argument "that essentially wanted to do away with all restrictions".

These Euroweenie leftists, and their American traitor fellow-travelers, are all totally delusional.
Balless, perhaps?
IMHO the Wilkerson A Hole is geting mighty close to crossing the line with his leftist hate speech
I wonder what they are smoking at the Guardian?
Does he have anything to say about Saddam?
These people deserve their own terrorist tribunals. They are obviously in league with the enemy.
Theres the damned State department again. George Bush should have cleaned out that nest of Vipers 6 years ago.
The State department thinks they are running this country.
You forgot the usual "Liberal Gag Alert".
The left is milking this Wilkerson guy for all he's worth. This morning the "news" was that Wilkerson speculated that the Bush people may have "spun" the intelligence in order to mislead the American people into going to war.
I wonder if there is any "war crime" associated with going overseas to make slanderous charges against the administration during wartime.
The man is a complete loony tune and only complete losers grasping desperately for straws to avoid dealing with the reality of the 403-3 REJECTION of their cut and run dogma by the US House of Representative would be quoting him as a serious source. The Guardian has now so cheapened it's supposed "Journalistic" standards one may as well quote the Grocery Store Tabloid the "National Enquirer" as claim "The Guardian" as a credible "news" source
1. Represent a government or recognized political entity.
2. Start showing up for battle in uniforms.
3. Can produce for their captors the required Geneva Conventions Identification Card.
I'm being pretty lenient since I'm not asking for them to stop chopping off the heads of their captives.
They don't call it Foggy Bottom for nothing.....
Lawrence Wilkerson sounds like the kind of guy who could be bought by Saddam Hussein's paymasters. Time for "W" to come clean about why he dumped Wilkerson's boss too.
IT IS ABIDING by the Geneva conventions to execute SPIES without trial.
A spy is an enemy within our territory who is not wearing a recognized uniform. So much as an arm-band or even an insignia is considered a uniform, sufficient to entitle that soldier to Geneva-protection.
As with all liberal nonsense, this is simply a non-issue.
No 'perhaps' about it. Eunuch Chris Matthews was pulling the same crap in Canada last week. SOP for leftists.
Isn't it just about time that congress did something about this sort of treasonous behavior, Americans going abroad to lie to the world about their own country?
It's a sorry state of things when you can't speak up in this country without violating the McCain Feingold law, but you can go abroad and attack your own country as freely as you please.
At the very least, we need a sentiment of the senate vote on whether they approve of this sort of thing. Put the S.O.B.s on record.
