On Nov 27, 1095, Pope Urban II began to preach the First Crusade:
From the confines of Jerusalem and the city of Constantinople a horrible tale has gone forth... that... an accursed race, a race utterly alienated from God... has invaded the lands of those Christians and has depopulated them by the sword, pillage and fire; it has led away a part of the captives into its own country, and a part it has destroyed by cruel tortures...
On whom therefore is the labor of avenging these wrongs and of recovering this territory incumbent, if not upon you? You, upon whom above other nations God has conferred remarkable glory in arms, great courage, bodily activity, and strength to humble anyone who resists you."
From Thomas Asbridge, The First Crusade, and from Medieval Sourcebook
Disclaimer: Avoid past barbarities. Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, and Jew united against Islamofascism.
Hardly qualifies as breaking news:-)
That's a dream, too. (But a nice dream).
Islamofascist expansionism has flared again, and the "War on Terror" should be recognized for exactly what it is.......a counteroffensive to the current activities of islam after a lull from WWI to the late 1990's.
Some things never change it would seem.
We must be learning from our mistakes. At least we didn't wait 400 years this time :)
(from elsewhere, the response is mine)
"Murtha, of course, put the hard reality on the table."
No he didn't......the senile fool presented the Iraq segment of the counteroffensive to renewed islamic expansionism and fascism in a vacuum that would be politically advantageous to his party.....but devastating to the counteroffensive as a whole.
Not long after 9/11, someone here had a graphic of four flags -- the Jerusalem cross, a simple cross, the Orthodox cross, and the Star of David -- representing this.
Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, and Jew united against Islamofascism.

I'll second that!
Great tag line!
Maybe a dream, but do we have any choice given the mohammedans hate anyone who isn't? Either we fight united, or suffer separately. I prefer the former, easily.
Thank you.
I agree, but there are those who call themselves Christian and Jew who do not.
I remember seeing that as a flag or banner. I took a few minutes to google, but couldn't locate it.
