Our new rallying cry: "403 to 3!"

Posted on 11/25/2005 10:15:19 AM PST by Democracy In Iraq

It's always difficult to counter the simplistic bumper-sticker logic of the anti-war left precisely because of its simplicity. Nonetheless, I've been trying to think of an easy-to-understand bumper-sticker length mantra that supporters of victory can adopt, and I think John Murtha may have inadvertantly given us one:

"403 to 3!"

I may be misperceiving the general mood of the country, but ever since the Murtha/House showdown, I'm sensing a renewed interest in victory and a renewed sense of appreciation for how much has been accomplished in Iraq. At the very least, that House vote seems to have taken the wind of a lot of anti-war sails.

This little message says it all: we're not leaving anytime soon, any crackpot anti-war activist who thinks so is only succeeding in marginalizing him or herself further out into the fringe, and no matter what their heroes in Congress say about President Bush and Iraq, they apparently don't mean it.

We have liberated 25 million people from one of the most evil regimes in recent history and we have helped create a democracy in a region and for a people that have never known it. The United States has once again sacrificed blood and treasure to make the world more free and more safe. We have a lot to proud of, a lot to be thankful for, and it's time for the skeptics and fence-sitters to get firmly behind victory.

I hope this catches on. I'm obviously no artist, but here's a bumper sticker to get us started:

This was a great move by the pubs.

Before the vote all you heard was quagmire, withdrawal, vietnam, etc.

After the vote, I can only hear crickets chirping in the silence.

I think you are right about this. Thanks to J. D. Haworth for this excellent bit of political craft, and for the Republicans who held firm in the House that night against all of those onslaughts from those who did not want to put their vote where their mouths have been running for so long and so loudly.

Actually, if anyone can recommend a good outfit for printing and marketing this kind of thing, I'll get in touch with them and offer to share in the initial cost of producing such a bumper sticker for distribution and sale.

I also have a graphics artist friend and strong military supporter who, I'm sure, will be glad to spruce up the image.

I heard an exchange on Fox this morning between Rich Lowry of National Review and some demo-babe (can't remember her name) about how the latest poll shows that more than 50% of Americans believe we will achieve victory in Iraq but only about 27% of the media believes this (I may have that number wrong, but it was much less than 50%). So the moderator asked why Americans aren't listening to the media's braying about defeat, and all Lowry would talk about is how Pres. Bush has lost credibility, which gave the demo-babe a chance to talk about the dems' "big chance." But neither responded to why Americans aren't listening to the media, nor did Lowry talk about how the dems' ratings are lower than Pres. Bush's. I was surprised that Lowry didn't try to make any good points. Is something going on at National Review?

"I may be misperceiving the general mood of the country"

My lengthy and wandering prior post was intended to be in response to this comment. No, I don't think you are wrong.

Please see my post a few posts above. If anyone can recommend a good place to print, market, and distribute them, I'll get my graphics artist buddy to spruce up the image and I'll offer to pay for some of the initial production costs.

"403 to 3!"

You're right. I've made a point of emphasizng that, too. The Dems had a chance to put up or shut up. They didn't put, so now they ought to shut up. Of course, they won't, but now at least their hypocrisy will be easier to point out.

If you have any ideas for who can do that credibly (i.e. a pro-military trinket site), please let me know and I'll get these out.

ya see what happens when you grow a spine instead of trying to make nice with a bunch of mindless, back stabbing, yellow bellied lib's.

There is no way many Congress Critter's would have gone home for the Holiday and not gotten an earful from their constituents voting otherwise.

I new a "Stay the Course" policy vote would win, but that was a freek'n blow out!
