Bear Stearns analyst Andrew Neff predicted Apple would ship 14.1 million iPods in the December period. That's nearly half of the total shipped since the product debuted in late 2001.
Shoppers are almost sure to feel the sting as well, especially on red-hot products like the black 4-gig nano and possibly for both versions of the video iPod, including the 30-gigabyte and 60-gigabyte models. "If you want to get an iPod for someone this Christmas, I'd advise you to get it now -- if you can find one," says Scott Anderson, merchandising manager for online retailer Crutchfield.

Uh ... I just went to the Apple Store web site, and it lists all iPod models as "ships within 24 hours".
I'm sure they're popular - I intend to get another one myself - but let's not go overboard here, Mr. Crutchfield Guy.

I imagine I'll only use it for the FM feature. Seems convenient not to carry CDs anymore.
Plus, the radio's volume (sorry... "gain" *rolleyes*) in my car is louder than the CD player.

How many megabytes is a 3 hour Rush Limbaugh show?
Personally, I'm interested in the iPod technology because I have a very large house, with five sound systems, including my boat. It appears that an iPod would be a good fit for my logistical requirements. Aside from that, I think that I will "iPod" until the market stabilizes supply & demand.
