They only care when there's confusion over which democrat wins. When the questionable vote involves a republican it goes to the democrat by default.

There may be a more crooked city in America, but I can't think of it.

Ah, I can see it now:

Super Bowl XL hits Detroit in early February, while there is still a fight going on over who actually won the election, and everyone's asking "who's the 'real' Mayor of Detroit?'

Then some disaster hits (ice storm? Al Queda? Canada invades?), and the chaos that would normally be Detroit, and on top of that Detroit in a crisis, is magnified by a controversy over who legally runs the city.

This would be perfect Detroit. And not ironically enough, perfectly Detroit Lions. And should this scenario come to pass, my only prediction is that Matt Millen would come out of it with a contract extension.

Detroit is still haunted (and run) by the ghost of Coleman Young!

From http://www.clickondetroit.com/politics/5282644/detail.html:

"With 100 percent reporting, Kilpatrick had 117,354, or 53 percent of the vote, and Hendrix had 103,446 votes, or 47 percent. The change was reported after Hendrix showed a 10-point lead in early counting."

Detroit can't hold a candle to Seattle when it comes to corrupt elections.

With 130% of the total votes reporting, Kilpatrick had 117,354 or 68 per cent of something, and Hendrix had 103,446 votes, or 62 per cent of something else.

The city clerk, Jackie (don't blame me) Currie could not explain why she mailed over 130,000 absentee ballots to DEAD people or those not requesting them. "If people want to vote, why not let them vote!"

Reporting from Detroit (which went for Gore/Kerry).

And throw in the menacing Detroit Tigers, the indicted city clerk, the massive elimination of police, the closure of multiple fire stations. But we have a new football stadium for the Ford family, and a new baseball stadium for the Ilitch Family--courtesy of the suburbian taxpayers.
