When Mutha's* game went from demanding withdrawal to reading letter after letter, to asking that the soldiers be given more purple hearts, it was obvious that he was out of ammo.

That, and the fact that the Dumbo's ran out of speakers.

*(spelling intentional)

I wan't able to listen to the entire proceedings, but I hope at least one GOP congressperson pressed the fact that if we pull out now and leave Iraq high and dry before the orderly transfer of power has occurred, we will lose the trust we have worked so hard to gain in the ME and throughout the world.

Many nations, including many Islam ones, have cooperated with us in the WOT in exchange for our promise (in conjunction with other forms of aid) that we will not allow SH's murderous regime to regain power in Iraq or elsewhere, nor allow the Taliban to again rule Afghanistan.

Which nations are going to trust us again if we do not fulfill our promises to them this time?

Ha Ha No doubt! You can't keep a good man down. But let's face it, for awhile, the Republicans seemed lost without the Hammer....so I'll take him behind the scenes until he can finally take care of little Ronnie Earles

This was all about Hillary. They could then and will claim that when we begin to withdraw troops, prior to 2008, it was because of them.

Just to add to this folks, it was Rep. Hayworth who proposed putting this matter to a vote. From Washington Times:

Rep. J.D. Hayworth, Arizona Republican, suggested the idea to House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and the Republican conference yesterday morning and it met with a round of applause.
He said the headlines after Mr. Murtha's call both in U.S. and overseas news services like Al Jazeera referred to immediate withdrawal, and those must be countered with a clear House vote.
"The signal will be that we will clear up any ambiguity, that friend and foe alike will understand the elected representatives of the people of the United States say no to immediate withdrawal," he said.

The big question is what did Murtha want? Was he trying to swing the upcomming election? Could he have? Was he not smart enough to consider the timing of his suggestion and the consequenses?

He's been at this "withdraw from Iraq" and "Bush lied" rhetoric for about two years now. He's just one cog in a DEM machine that aims to make political gains in the US process, costs elsewhere be damned (you don't hear DEMs talk about what happened after the US pulled out of Viet Nam), with the ultimate objective of implementing a more collectivist, socialist form of government, faster than the GOP will.

I think the Democrats believe they have been on a roll. DeLay indicted, the Libby thing, Bush's numbers being push-polled down, the election in NJ and VA, and they wanted to make some further inroads. But it backfired on them.

JD was one of the few last night who told it like it really was and exposed the Rats giving aid and comfort to the enemy. I loved it when he held up the AlJazerra website printout :) I see JD in a leadership position one day for sure.

"The Democrat Party in America is as dangerous as the terrorist and hide like the cowards they are when doing their dirty work."

My only quibble with what you say is that IMO, the DemonRAT part is more dangerous than the terrorists. They are the enemy within, eating directly at our national security day in and day out with the help of the leftist AKA MSM.

In a just world, those dems should be transported to Baghdad in a cargo plane and put up in one of the hotels so favored by the "insurgents". I would venture to guess they'd all be on their knees praying for our troops to protect them from the TERRORISTS out there in the street.

The only "exit-strategy" is victory.

Isn't that an answer to any war? (Well, any sensible answer...)

Excellent speech. Concise and to the point. I watched much of last night's proceedings, but missed this one.

I could vote for JD Hayworth for President !

I second that motion. JD is one of the very few that says to h&ll with the PC morons.

That is also driven home in Tony Blankley new book, "The Wests Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations".

Someone has to take the torch and lead. Unfortunately I don't see many capable people on the horizon. Most American's do not think of the whole. They cling to their little piece of existence, be it nice rich toys, free gov handouts, exclusive communities, etc.

Well, it is all going to come crashing down one day when we least expect it. Unless of course we starting killing the scourge that has befallen us. "The clash of civilizations" is upon us and we argue about investigating some "I THINK I'M IMPORTANT" yahoo at the CIA. Or the oil company executives because of profit.

Tell the government to turn back the win-fall taxes they are getting from oil.

The important part is to actually vote on things, instead of letting them fester in the media and other cess pools.
