"The majority's exit strategy is Victory": Must-read Remarks of Arizona Rep. J.D. Hayworth
C-Span ^

Brilliant, simple, stirring...deserving more attention than it got

House Republicans News conference on the U.S. policy in Iraq (11/17/2005) Comments of J.D. Hayworth (R-Arizona):

"J.D. Hayworth. Arizona Five."

"There's no need to sugarcoat what has transpired today. People talk about exit strategies. Well, let's let the American people decide."

"The majority's exit strategy is Victory and Freedom for the people of Iraq. Now, sadly, many on the Democratic side have revealed their exit strategy: Surrender."

"The American people will not stand for Surrender. The American people are made of sterner stuff. And the American people understand that if we turn tail and leave now, more problems will visit our shores and the consequences will be far greater."

"And if there's a doubt, take a look at the people of old Europe. Take a look at the French. Take a look at what's transpiring in the streets of France."

"Sadaam Hussein has been deposed. He is behind bars. That is an unqualified success. Dare we now snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, plagued by the poll-driven self doubt of those who embrace surrender?"

"I don't believe the American people will stand for it. I believe the American people have a simple approach: We prevail. We're victorious. Freedom prevails in the Middle East, and we say No to the spread of Islamofascism around the globe."

I have more respect for JD Hayworth than the entire membership of the US Senate. I find it refreshing to hear clear concise statements instead of someone parsing every sentence that comes out of their mouth.

I could vote for JD Hayworth for President, there is not one Senator I feel the same about and obviously history bares this out.

The vote last night showed the Democrats for the cowards and traitors they are. They tried several times to shout down Republican speakers, they objected on several occasions and when called upon to stand they hide in the corner like the cowards they are. They sit back and call the President a liar and when he responds they call it politics. They call people racist and yet slam blacks and call them "Uncle Toms and Oreos"for disagreeing with them, they call judges who disagree with them "Neanderthals". They hide in the shadows and cannot stand for something they say they believe in when called into the light. They like all criminals and terrorist hide their faces to do their dirty work. The Democrat Party in America is as dangerous as the terrorist and hide like the cowards they are when doing their dirty work.

Thanks for posting this. Finally someone in COngress says it like it is, great comments. Maybe this last vote by Congress will brng back some backbone in this discourse and be a morale booster to our troops. For this statement alone Hayworth needs to be re-elected in a landslide.

The big question is what did Murtha want? Was he trying to swing the upcomming election? Could he have? Was he not smart enough to consider the timing of his suggestion and the consequenses?

Ten years ago, I would have called you crazy. Now I say you are dead on. That's how much I have learned in 10 years. Good post.

["I don't believe the American people will stand for it. I believe the American people have a simple approach: We prevail. We're victorious. Freedom prevails in the Middle East, and we say No to the spread of Islamofascism around the globe."]

Add demofascism in America also and we got a winner for GOP and the next presidential election.

I think the Dems were ASTONISHED that the Republicans reacted like this. They were hoping that the news buzz over the holidays would be Murtha..the great patriot Marine against Bush...and it didn't happen that way, thank God!The Dems figured that the Republicans would react as they always did...especially with DeLay gone...but the vote is the vote...and the vote backs the troops!

i feel very strongly that the liberal democratics have become a clear enemy of the United States -- they have proved it over and over again with no sign of backing down. They can never be trusted to be in charge of running this country again, and we must all work hard to see that it does not happen. We have to fight the enemy at home, while our great forces fight the enemy abroad - this is the best way we can show support for them.

Pretty soon the Democrats are going to be fresh out of doddering old veterans to exploit for political gain.

I thought I heard here on FR that Murtha was Pelosi's waterboy. Dimo's thought that republicans wouldn't DARE attack Murtha with his credentials.

They didn't attack Murtha, just held a put up or shut up vote.
