As much as I can't bear Chafee, the seat helps hold the majority and keep committee chairmanships.

And helps the Democrats win on all the big issues. Poor trade-off.

If I lived in Rhode Island, I would vote for a Chafee (shiver) in the general for the purpose you state, but one ought to have the right to vote for a conservative in the primary.

"As much as I can't bear Chafee, the seat helps hold the majority and keep committee chairmanships."

Then we put in Committee chairmen that are RINOs like Chafee or Spector.

It does us not good to have the chairmanships when the senate is full of RINOS.

We need to have these idiots lose their offices so some of their fellow senators start voting like conservatives out of fear that their constituents aren't going to keep voting them back in for lack of a better choice.

BINGO! A liberal republican helps hold the majority. We in PA are responsible for Arlen Sphincter, but with the unions and corruption here what better do we think we can get? Santorum is shaky at best next year.

A RINO who votes with the agenda 50% is better than a dem who is against it 100%. I hate it too, but until we can start to capture some state majorities, there's not much choice.

Like the committees that rammed through the "highway" and "farm" porkfests? The same committees that made sure Congress refused, by a vote of 85-to-15, to delete the Alaskan Bridge To Nowhere? Passed the assault on the First Amendment? The Trillion-Dollar "free" pills for greedy geezers vote-buying scam?

How is that a good thing?

Why in the world do we need chairmanships when we put doofuses like Specter in the Judiciary Com. post? I think all RINOs should be turned out of office. It would be the best thing for the others in the party and might give them a much-needed wake-up call. The President is getting none of his programs through the Senate anyway, so we wouldn't notice the difference if it were under the Dem's control.

Only when the difference is by 1, as it was when Jeffords flipped. Wasn't Chafee at the top of everyone's list as the next to flip if Republicans took back the Senate by one seat?
