Protestors at funeral in Greeley, CO
Personal web posting ^ | 11/14/2005 | ???

Posted on 11/15/2005 7:04:47 AM PST by NEMDF

On Friday, November 11, 2005, a hate group that calls itself the "Westboro Baptist Church" decided to protest the funeral of fallen soldier PFC Tyler Mackenzie, who was killed in Iraq from an IED. The funeral was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints in Greeley.

If you are not familiar with this group, you can see their website to get all the gory details. Here is their schedule for future "protests". Even though PFC Mackenzie was not gay, this group randomly protests soldier's funerals, holding up signs that say things such as "Thank God for IED's", "Thank God for Dead Soldiers", and so on. Showing up to taunt a family and celebrate their child's death makes them the lowest form of scum I've yet seen.

Fortunately, these pieces of trash were completely drowned out and blocked from view by police, firemen, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Veterans, motorcyclists, 4x4 club members, and lots of other people who just couldn't let this disgrace go unanswered.

I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about these protests. Can we please just ignore them? Their message sucks and they really get mad when they are ignored.

I think that there was a counter by our fine Northern Colorado area FReepers.

One of my friends showed up with 125 American flags from the group Healing Fields. When she handed them out, some of the Marine Moms were close to tears.

The bikers I heard were excellent, reving their engines every time the piece of sh** protestors started chanting. I heard that one of the protestors had a sign that said "A good soldier is a dead soldier".

Their protest was an absolute failure and the response from Greeley was fantastic. Thanks to all who could make it. Hopefully I will have a couple of photos to post later.
All the Best,

From our pal, "Trteamer."
Thanks, FRiend!

I went to this funeral. A large number of bikers including myself drowned out the abusive chants of this group (revving our engines) . The street outside the church was lined with veterans, bikers, school children, firemen, and many others all holding American flags. PFC Tyler Ryan Mackenzie had a send-off worthy of an American who sacrificed his life in service to his country. Every effort was made to keep the family from seeing or hearing this small group of Fred Phelps followers. They left completely intimidated when their parade permit ran out about five minutes before the funeral. I might add that they left in a hurry. If you hear of a military funeral in your area and Fred Phelps plans on being there you should feel obligated to go and drown them out and intimidate them.

They look like a small smack for the DC Chapter. They aren't coming our way.

They've been to my church a couple of times. You can't "just ignore them," because they stand right by the doors, holding signs and shouting. Real fruit-loop in-your-face types. Not the sort of bastards you want to try to ignore at a funeral. But they're also pansies.

(Given their penchant for theatrics, and the serious unreasonableness with which they approach homosexuality, I suspect that they're closet homosexuals....)

People can call themselves whatever they want, but what they say and do makes it clear who & what they really are.

God knows who they are and where they live.

The hate of these people will be avenged, one way or the other.

It;s called karma, among other things.

Good gawd! Seems they've nothing to do with their lives but continue to disrupt funerals and upset grieving families. They should all be arrested and never let out.

I find these demons more offensive than Cindy Sheehan. To protest at a soldier's funeral waving signs that say, "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" should be against the law. Freedom of speech my ass, these freaks should not be allowed to dance on the grave of a serviceman in full view of his family. If I were in attendance I'd have to pay for the consequences of my actions for kicking the living s*** out of these freaks.
