ICE is the most corrupt federal agency in existence today.

So US Customs (from which ICE was primarily based) was corrupt? Remember, it's the same former US Customs and INS agents (not US Customs inspectors or INS inspectors) who make up ICE now.

Just a matter of time before the 'Rats demand that everyone in the world be allowed to vote in US presidential elections. Their argument will be that because the US has such great influence in world affairs, the whole world should be allowed to vote.

I live in Texas. What used to be CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) is now, and has been corrupt for many years. If you can provide links that show the major overhaul in personnel and policies, I would appreciate it. There are many articles even here on FR that point to the corruption on the borders. Some people even go as far as saying that the states and municipalities should take on the responsibility for border enforcement. CBP was, and ICE is, the most corrupt federal agency. And nobody dares to demand a congressional investigation. Easier to blame the executive branch. Blame Mexico. Blame drugs, and prostitution. Blame day labor. Blame the war on some drugs.

For now, the bribed and corrupt agents do not want to cut off the cash cow from smuggling people, drugs, and weapons. Guaranteed that when the money is right, someone will turn their back and shut off the monitor when something more insidious comes here. The liberals will blame the executive branch, congress will once again go t!ts up, and Americans will die.

an idea Mayor Bloomberg vehemently opposes.

I keep trying to tell people, ANY Republican is better then ANY Democrat. Those very, very, very few exceptions just prove the rule.

Bloomberg gets beaten up all the time around here for not being pro-life, for not being as fiscally conservative as we'd like, etc.

All of which I agree with, in theory, but in politics, it's about tradeoffs, and you should take the best you can practically get.

If we had Green or whomever just ran against Bloomberg this time, this would pass in a walk, and would hurt NATIONALY eventually. It won't because we have a Republican Mayor.

Thank you Mr. Bloomberg.

There is not now, nor has there ever been, an organization in the US government called Customs and Border Patrol. US Customs was part of the Department of Treasury. Their responsibility was controlling the legal ports of entry into the US. Customs had both inspectors (the guys at the airports, land borders, etc) and agents (the guys serving warrants, doing kiddie porn busts, etc). US Border Patrol was part of the Immigration and Naturalization Service. INS also had inspectors, who generally worked at the legal ports of entry.

When the Department of Homeland Security was created, INS inspectors, Border Patrol agents, and US Customs inspectors were folded into one agency, called Customs and Border Protection. That agency is less than two years old. The Customs and INS agents split off and formed ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement.) The links to the personnel and policy overhauls are all found at www.dhs.gov.

Hope this helps.

Do you realize that right up until the primary, Bloomberg was a Democrat. The guy is literally a Republican In Name Only. I'd have preferred seeing Ferrer win.

Yes, I realize that.

Bloomberg is essentially a moderate Democrat. When it's between those and a lunatic leftist, that's great.

You just don't get it. NY would be on the verge of bankrupcy again, crime would be sky high, and the only thing that would matter would be public employee union interests if there wasn't someone like Bloomberg to keep the ship upright.
