NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Someone may have let the cat out of Wal-Mart's Black Friday bag early -- and it looks like the No. 1 retailer is ready to aggressively battle on prices in the weeks ahead by going very low on some hot products.
And here's what to expect: A Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ze2308wm notebook computer for $398; an HP Photosmart E317 digital camera for $98.88; a Lexmark all-in-one printer, scanner and copier for $39.88; and a 12-cup coffeemaker, food chopper or 2 qt. slow cooker for just $4.24.
Typically Wal-Mart (Research) and other retailers debut the eagerly awaited day-after-Thanksgiving specials a few days in advance. Wal-Mart hasn't officially debuted its Black Friday ads, but the information appears to have been leaked to a few Web sites.
"Last year, Wal-Mart didn't discount heavily on Black Friday and the first week after. What happened? Comparable sales fell 3 percent," said Marshal Cohen, chief retail analyst with market research firm NPD Group. "This year, Wal-Mart's making sure that it's not caught with pants down again. I'm shocked to see how low Wal-Mart is prepared to go this year."
The day after Thanksgiving is dubbed "Black Friday" because it's when retailers are said to finally move out of the red (representing losses) and into the black (profits). It also marks the start of the four-week shopping blitzkrieg leading up to Christmas.
Brad Olson, the founder of Gottadeal.com, a Web site that markets itself as the "official Black Friday deals site," told CNN/Money that he obtained Wal-Mart's Black Friday ad last week from "someone close to the production process for the ads."

LOL Had just told my son this very thing 30 seconds before I saw your post. Smaller boxes of whatever are usually on the top or bottom shelves. Larger boxes are eye level. People usually buy what is in front of then.
Years ago I worked in a store similiar to WalMart before WallyWorld even existed. Smaller item went on the left, larger on the right. Most people are right handed and tend to stand right in front of whatever product. They would normally reach for the size on the right. Off brands (cheaper price) were on the bottom or across the aisle from the name brands.
Can I put it on layaway now and buy it (at the sale price) first thing on B Friday morning?
Wonder how low they are going to go on those. It has already dropped to below $600 for a 23" widescreen. If it drops below $300 then it is going home with me.
Wrong! Chances are there will be hundreds of each item on sale.
Holy cow. Hope the folks working Black Friday get hazard pay.

A New Weapon for Wal-Mart: A War Room [Hires Ex-Bush,Reagan,Clinton,Gore,Dean,Kerry Staff
...spoken like the rest of the ignorant people that don't know what drives business... or who does business where!
In case you didn't know, WalMart doesn't make anything. they BUY things to RESELL. They buy from the lowest bidder, so they can offer the lowest price. WalMart buys from Chinese companies, as does EVERY DAMN RETAILER IN THE USA... But WalMart also buys more AMERICAN PRODUCTS than any other retailer in the world.
And, I'd sure bet that the PEOPLE in China appreciate the changes, that their prosperity is bringing to them. IMHO, despite the use of monies by the PRC, the PEOPLE will see the light at the end of the tunnel... It is already causing eyes to be opened , and the spirit of FREEDOM to begin to take shape. Capitalism works.
I don't hear you slapping Loral Space, or IBM! How about RadioShack. They have built more factories, with US money IN CHINA, than almost anyone else.
Have a good year, and be sure and keep that head up where it is... you apparently like the smell!
is it a one day sale or will it go on for a while? I'll be in Canada the day after thanxgiving...)-;
Genius! I guess leaks are not for Washington DC only.
"Why does the left hate big business but loves big government?"
...
Because they've been trained(brain washed) to think with only a select list of key trigger words like
"entitlement"
work = bad
entitlement = what have you done for ME lately?
Odd considering the late President JFK said, "Ask not what your government can do for you but what you can do for your government." Hardly the thing a Democrat would utter today. Or did JFK really mean, that we citizens should be endentured to our government (over lords).... hmmmm?
I purchased one this year "42" Sharp Aquos. One thing you must consider is the actually "set up" of the tv itself by a professional that is not going to just leave it in the "factory mode". I went with surround sound (Polk speakers, Pioneer receiver ) as well which gives you a theater experience, to enjoy this tv in the manner to which it should be enjoyed. Big difference in sound quality than the factory speakers that come with the tv. I happened to buy mine through a local retailer that matched the lowest price they found on the net [Best Buy etc] for that tv; actually they went lower as the mark up is so high on thse tvs.
Can you frickin' READ??? Where the h*ll did I say ANYTHING about Wal-Mart? G-d bless 'em...I hope they make a boatload of money this "holiday" season. I hope EVERYBODY makes a boatload. My point is that buying 'Chinese', regardless of WHERE Americans purchase these products, is going to finance the build-up of the Red China military arsenal, which MAY be used at some point against us. Geez...what else is going on in the 'Pollyannaverse' today?
I want a DVD recorder, but can't get an answer to my question - can you fast forward/skip commercials?

The point IS, why is it okay and permitted that every other retailer in America and over seas, large and small are allowed to sell China made products? Retailer envy much? Don't like WalMart, start your own retail chain and compete with them or are you too Whimpy-verse today? And p.s., China's Red army has already been built up! That's what communist countries do and how they function. Duh....
Mine has a commercial skip on the remote that automaticaly moves up 30 seconds through each commercial.
It also has fast forward and rewind like a regular DVD player.
What I really like about it is how different recordings you make on a disc are shown in "scene selection" type format so you choose which one you want to watch without looking all over like you would with a VHS tape.
For a long time now, I've been trying to duplicate my mother's recipe for rice pudding. The finished product was medium-brownish in color, not runny, had lots of raisins, and a distinctive taste that may be nutmeg. Unfortunately, mom has passed on, and nobody else seems to have ever heard of this combination, so I will definitely try the recipe you have in your post.
Thanks in advance!
So that this post will not be off-topic, I plan to make this on the Friday after Thanksgiving rather than fight mobs of people at Wally World.
I got their $4 coffeeepot about two yrs ago and it lasted about a week.
Thanks for the info. Sales people have not been any help.
Pro-choice? Hah. There is no choice when the left decides.
You mentioned big business and big government but you left out the Mafia. The three of them are all the same, crooks to the very core. Only the enforcement of our laws protect us somewhat from business and the Mafia. There is no protection from big government. Our great conservative president "W" is making it bigger with each passing day.
