Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

:) Yes indeed I am. Very nice job. I was concerned about the "can't distinguish between al Qaida and Saddam" quote from Levin (not that I though the President ever really tried to connect them in that way), but I see that it was as evil a distortion as it can be.

He's never tried to connect Saddam and OBL. These same Democrats can't get beyond the fact that they authorized an air campaign on Iraq in 1998 and again in 2002.

This gives all Guantanamo detainees the right to challenge the determination of "enemy combatant" status, on a case by case basis (one time), in a Federal Court. That is, the Federal Court will check the military commission/military tribunal process, and render an opinion as to whether the process has been properly applied, and the status ("enemy combatant," "civilian," "irregular combatant") is correct.
The object is to make sure the detainees are foreign national enemy combatants, and to deny the writ of habeus corpus to people being found of that status by a military tribunal -- agreed by a Federal court.
Very interesting dividing line between military law and civilian law, and it is being defined from several angles at this time. SCOTUS opinion is the impetus for this Senate action, for example.
Of course, it goes without saying, he has yet to provide a direct quote or soundbite to back up his claim.

SO...the DEMS are trying to rewrite history by saying that Bush said that Bin Ladin and Saddam did 9/11 together???
Bush has never claimed that...and he has never claimed that we were in imminent danger...like they claim he did.
Here's Warner. There may be mor mischief afoot. They may be a co-equal branch, but they have different spheres according tot he Constitution. If they start wanting to run this war, it will be a disaster.
