San Diego Support The Troops Rally 10-28-05 (after action report/photos)

On Friday, Oct. 28th, the San Diego area FReepers joined with the San Diego Protest Warriors for the chance to tell our soldiers, "Thank you", at the Marine Corps air Station at Miramar.
It was very heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of our Marines as they realized that these shouting, waving, flag bearing, sign carrying people were there to salute them! They have not been forgotten!
We had a terrific response from the troops as well as passers-by. The local news was with us the entire time and even went "live" with us. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to give a little back to the troops.
Our numbers are growing with each event. Congratulations San Diego and thank you for supporting our troops!

We had about 25 people show up, with 9 of them representing Free Republic. In attendance were: SoCalPol, NordP and her husband, sofaman, cgk and her adorable daughter, Aquakat and his wife (Orange County), and myself. Big thanks to NordP for bringing music and representing FR on tv. Great job! Also, thanks to Aquakat for taking the time to drive down to San Diego to join us.

Thanks for the thread and pics! It was wonderful to be there, to let our troops know how much we appreciate them, and of course to meet all of you. I'm glad we were able to make it!
Lauryn (my 3 yr old daughter, also in red, wearing the turtle backpack) had a lot of fun. When she saw this thread and the pics she said to her daddy "We went there!" She LOVES the cap the Marine stopped to give her... (she'll have to share it with me until she grows into it).
I'm sorry to say I didn't meet sofaman or aquakat! Or we probably said "hello" but I didn't know you were FReepers, as we said Hello to almost everyone there. One of the other women who attended has my email address to send some more pics, so as soon as she sends them, I'll post them. I'm looking forward to the next rally.
Note to NordP and husband: Thanks for bringing the music! We're VERY VERY sorry the little one knocked it over! ;)
