Department of Defense website

Posted on 10/25/2005 7:58:40 PM PDT by DCDeliberate

The following facts are verifiable on the Department of Defense web site. Some of you probably know most of this and/ or some of it. Having been accused of being a liberal already on this site, makes me preturbed enough. Some people in the general room need to lighten up. So... I figured I would talk positively about the war effort with something my tough minded mother-in law found at the DOD.gov

Did you know that 47 countries have reestablished their embassies in Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi government currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know that Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando Battalion?

Did you know that the Iraqi Police Service has over 55,000 fully trained and equipped police officers?

Did you know that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq that produce over 3500 new officers each 8 weeks?

Did you know there are more than 1100 building projects going on in Iraq? They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities and 69 electrical facilities.

Did you know that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5 have received the first 2 series of polio vaccinations?

Good news. Seripusly good news.

But I wondered about this one
"Did you know that the Iraqi government currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?"

Does that mean they are collecting taxes or are we paying the salaries for a million people?

The fiscal conservative in me wonders about such things.

I read (I believe at the Belmont Club?) that the average Iraqi lifespan has increased by 2 years since Saddam fell.

The increase in the number of cell phone users strikes me as not necessarily being good news.

It's sickening....

They are eager to report the 2,000th death in Iraq, and complain when Gen. Myers puts a number on Insurgent Deaths.

The fact of the matter is....... Our MSM and 2/3's of the Cable news outlets are giving aid and comfort to our enemies
