Watch out, Cindy Sheehan May End Up On Your Governor's Doorstep

Watch out, Cindy Sheehan may end up on your governor's doorstep

By Kevin Fobbs

Cindy Sheehan is on another mission and her intent is to literally get America out of Iraq if it kills America and destroys our Homeland Security in the process. Her stated purpose as she begins her rounds around the nation is to take on the nation's governors and browbeat them into submission so that they will pull out their National Guard units one state at a time. Can't you just see the glee in leaders of Al Qaida's eyes as they support her new and improved tour called "Not One More Life" campaign.

She recently visited Arizona's governor Janet Napolitano and made it clear that she wants the governor to feel, understand and deal with her pain by serving her up with a letter of demand which quite clearly states America has no option but to leave Iraq.

Is Sheehan for real? Her tour was called "Bring Them Home Now." She even said, "George Bush wouldn't meet with me. But I went over his head. I went to the people of America." But what about all those American family members of on-duty soldiers who have been going over her head to tell America that she does not represent them? While she was visiting Arizona she also decided to openly "out" their U.S. senator, John McCain by labeling him as a warmonger.

Now I don't think anyone in this nation would ever label U.S. Senator John McCain a warmonger. As a matter of fact, I think Cindy "I-have-over-stayed-my-welcome" Sheehan has probably given John McCain's candidacy a boost for the presidency an added boost just by her attempt to give him a black eye with the fringe left.

Many conservatives have been feeling that Sen. John McCain has been more than a little too friendly with moderates and liberals and here comes this military mom on a mission from liberal-land calling him out and making certain all of her friends and leftist associates understand...this senator who was the darling of the middle road was in fact a pretender of sorts.

One has to wonder whether or not Cindy Sheehan is simply out of touch with reality or does she have some secret scheme to undermine the moderate and liberal candidates who are positioning themselves for the presidential sweepstakes? She has come out against Senator Hillary Clinton who has her eyes dead set on her husband's former office. Now she has come out against Senator John McCain who came out ahead in a recent poll conducted at a recent Michigan Republican leaders meeting held on Mackinac Island.

Remember her 26-day vigil outside the president's ranch? Well she had quite a sideshow going until Hurricane Katrina dampened her one-woman act. Then she took her show on the road to our nation's capitol. Guess what? She got an extension on her 15 minutes of fame. Sheehan didn't want to go home so she became a paid speaker. Now those on the National Mall as well as anyone watching C-Span could eventually have the privilege to pay to see her insult their family members who are in the Armed Forces or were wounded or killed serving our country.

As she led a huge anti-war rally on the National Mall on September 24 called "From New Orleans to Iraq, Palestine and Haiti: Bring the Troops Home Now" anti-war protest you had to wonder did they want to throw everything in that title but the kitchen sink! It didn't matter to MoveOn .org and it didn't matter to leftist reactionary Code Pink. And it certainly didn't matter to Rev. Al Sharpton or Rep. Charles Rangel shrilly proclaiming to the 100,000 plus assembled in saying that President Bush is a Bull Conner: the governor that unleashed dogs and hoses on blacks during the civil rights movement.

To Sheehan any organization or organized movement or political platform that will wring out more of those additional 15 minutes of fame she received from the mainstream media down in Crawford, Texas, is fine with her. So when Rev. Jesse Jackson invited the entire world to listen in and made references to Cindy and Civil Rights legend Rosa Parks as being almost one and the same, Sheehan had to have died and gone to heaven.

Yet Sheehan still did not have enough. She wanted more. What does any real protester worth their salt do? Of course they get arrested on national TV. So there we saw this caricature of herself being hauled off by the local police and doing the politically uncool thing...she smiled — no, she beamed...a joke to her and an even bigger joke to America.

So what is America left with?

Unfortunately America is now threatened with a third act of this never-ending Sheehan saga.

Now she wants to extend her nonsensical campaign of coordinated self-destruct of our Homeland Security to a hometown near you.

She has decided that if she can't persuade the president when he is at home on the ranch, and she can't persuade the wacko masses when they are with her assembled on the National Mall and she can't persuade her seemingly liberal elected officials in-arms on Capitol Hill, then she simply must put our nation's governors through this charade.

But Cindy 'Sheehan is no fool (or at least those liberal organizations who are backing her and pulling her strings). She understands perfectly that fifty states times multiple speaking engagements in every state, and throw in a college campus or two so that when she heads back to that empty marital nest in California she will have raised a pretty penny for the Sheehan nest egg.

Are Hollywood lights on the horizon? After all she is from California...so what's next? Cindy Sheehan...The movie... Barbra Streisand or Meryl Streep are you listening? Oh, please.

I'll bet you are tired! I went to bed early last night and slept late today. It's in the 50's here and windy.

California had the same temp as Arizona, 98. I thought I could catch a cool ocean breeze, but no such luck. Right now it's 88 out in my patio, and the AC just kicked in. I'm going to call it quits myself in about thirty minutes and hit the sack...hard!

We were having temperatures over 100 every day a week ago and then the rain came. Now the cold front and wind. Guess that's how I got what I got!

Nothing like that ever happens here. If it's not hot, it's usually hotter, if not hotter, then, hotter than hot! Yep, sharp temperature swings will make your nose run.

Granholm would welcome her in for tea and crumpets.

Are those the preferred drink and snack of Canadians?

I think Ted should understand that we all understand she is a known commodity just like Maddona or Paris Hilton, therefore the letter.

October 5, 2005

Governor Ted Kulongoski

160 State Capital

900 Court Street

Salem, Oregon 97301-4047

Dear Governor Kulongoski:

Very soon you will receive a letter from Cindy Sheehan demanding you exercise your full authority for the immediate withdrawal of Oregon National Guard troops from Iraq. Your answer will be evaluated with much care and attention. Let me explain.

Sometime after the first meeting with George Bush, Cindy Sheehan exchanged identity as a gold star mother for victim status. She reshaped Casey’s former identity as Eagle Scout, model Christian young man, and twice Army volunteer into that of a bewildered, ignorant, gullible, adolescent victim. She can now quote the stream of consciousness that says George Bush is the liar who murdered her son for oil, Middle East imperialism, and a Neo-Con agenda supporting Israel, and who should be impeached, though hiding behind the propaganda of a mainstream press and an unverifiable voting system, before he changes this country into a fascist state. Her prominence in the anti-war movement comes just as people in Hollywood and on campus do not seem to be getting the traction needed for their rhetoric. By the way, the other side is not the pro-war movement, but sees the rapidly spreading Wahhabi jihadism heresy as such a severe, immediate world crisis, that armed force must remain on a continuum of diplomacy to effectively confront this generational conflict.

These transformations also aid the social policies of Cindy’s supporting organizations by marginalizing the routine displays of courage, endurance, and costly compassion of our armed forces members and their families. Such aspects of human character must remain curious, rare, and even tragic for success in debates over policy initiatives, which opponents contend foster feeble expectations and perpetuate dependent constituencies.

As people become ever more aware of her political activist identity, the decision for politicians is whether to be seen identifying with her and the many agendas of her sponsoring organizations, because people will make the association.

Sincerely,

Nolan Nelson

Eugene, Oregon 97401
