Latest Recon Indicates Rita is a CAT 5 Hurricane

The latest recon report indicated the pressure in Rita has fallen to 920 mb and the maximum flight level winds were over 175 mph. AccuWeather.com Meteorologist believe Rita has become a Cat 5 hurricane.

Nope. Cat 5 is as high as it gets. Those are pretty rare.

Really, how could it not be a MONSTER.

It has nothing between it and Texas but warm ocean water and no land to break it up.

This is gonna be a bad one. The souls in TX are taking it seriously...hope all make it out okay.

Yes, as the outer arms hit land, it will slow back down ,just as Katrina did. Still, even a cat 3 at landfall will kick up a devistating surge. And it will be cat 5 over any oil rigs.

I think so, but this thing is a Cat 5 and it's still a long way from shore.

That means it is still not done warming up and sucking up moisture.

This thing is a MONSTER.
