Confronting Jihad in America By Jamie Glazov FrontPageMagazine.com | September 20, 2005

Frontpage Interview's guest today is Jesse Petrilla, the founder of the fast growing organization The United American Committee (UAC), a federation of concerned Americans promoting awareness of threats to Homeland Security, primarily focusing on Islamic extremism in America.

FP: Jesse Petrilla, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

Petrilla: Thank you. Good to be here.

FP: What inspired you to create The UAC?

Petrilla: The growing threat of Islamic extremism in the U.S. is a legitimate concern of many Americans. I am just one of those concerned citizens doing my part to help protect the future of America. The UAC was created as an outlet for those concerned about the Islamic extremist threat, it gives the average citizen the opportunity to do their part in keeping America safe against the extremists who seek to subvert or destroy the freedom and security of the American people. The United American Committee is looked at more as a growing political movement than just an organization. We have teamed up with experts such as Robert Spencer, Dr. Ali Sina and Christopher Holton of the Center for Security Policy, as well as many other capable individuals who are helping in the common goal of implementing answers and solutions to confront and defeat the Islamic extremist threat in America.

FP: What exactly does the UAC do to achieve these objectives?

Petrilla: We strive to awake those who are unaware of the great threats that face the nation from within. We urge citizens to become better informed, to be alert within their communities, and to promote effective responses by their local, state and federal governments. We as a nation must enact harsh penalties against Islamic extremists. The citizens must let their government representatives know that if the representatives waiver on standing tough against Islamic extremism, that they will lose the support of their constituency.

We are currently promoting legislation that strengthens our national security and we will soon be petitioning Congress to introduce additional measures to better preserve life and liberty against the threats of Islamic extremism. This is a bipartisan issue, the terrorists don't know party lines, everyone is just as vulnerable wherever they stand politically. It is extraordinarily important that ordinary Americans participate in the decision making processes that effect their freedom and security. You can find out more about the legislative initiatives we are promoting, and ways to get involved, at www.unitedamericancommittee.org.

FP: What are some of these legislative initiatives?

Petrilla: We are currently supporting legislation, such as the SAFER Act, that facilitates the removal of alien terrorists and their support networks, and better secures our borders against terrorist infiltration. We are also seeking measures to strengthen the Saudi Arabia Accountability Act of 2005 because we do not feel the sanctions in the bill are sufficient to halt Saudi support for institutions that fund, train, incite, and encourage terrorism, or secure full Saudi cooperation in the investigation of terrorist incidents. We are pushing to add additional sanctions to stop the Saudi funding of radical U.S. mosques and madasses (Islamic schools). As for our own legislative agenda, one issue we have been particularly concerned with are the scandalous attacks on writers, such as Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, by "libel tourists" who have used foreign courts to violate the American First Amendment free speech rights. We will also be pushing for tougher sentencing guidelines for convicted terrorists, improved border security and immigration and controls, and stricter procedures to prevent Islamic extremists from penetrating our national security infrastructure. There is much to be done.

FP: When you say our nation must enact harsh penalties against Islamic extremists, what penalties do you have in mind? What penalties are we enacting right now that are insufficient?

Petrilla: In the past, the American judicial system has left the nation greatly vulnerable by allowing terrorists and would-be terrorists the luxury of parole and lenient sentencing. An example of this is Ahmed Ressam, the would-be LAX bomber who was in the process of transporting explosives with the intent of detonating a bomb at Los Angeles airport. Ressam was sentenced to 22 years in prison, a man in his 30s, he will be paroled by his late 50s, when he will then be capable of continuing his Anti-American agenda.

In addition, these Islamic extremists are given the ability to network within the prison systems. There are many examples of Islamic fundamentalist prison inmates masterminding terror plots including El Sayid Nosair, with others, and his ties to the first world trade center bombings of 1993. The United American Committee believes that no parole shall ever be granted to those who aid in the plot of, or have the intent of carrying out a terrorist attack on the American people. The UAC platform states that one of the organizations goals is to encourage the judicial system of America to extend capitol punishment to those who are in the process of carrying out a terrorist act as defined by the patriot act. There is no difference in ones intent weather a terrorist attack is successful or not. Why I ask should the judicial system be lenient only because a terrorist failed in his mission to inflict great harm on the American people?

FP: Good question. Let’s go back to the Saudis for a minute. Why is it so difficult to make the moves you propose against the Saudis when it is so clear that they are involved in so many activities that harm us?

Petrilla: The ties between America and Saudi Arabia are far deeper than most can ever imagine. Their petroleum industry and the importation of Saudi oil to America is a great part of the American economy. Saudi Arabia sits on fully 25 percent of global oil reserves. It will take the American people standing up and demanding the decreased importation of oils from Saudi Arabia to force American politicians to find alternatives. The United American Committee believes in not only putting pressure on Washington to find these alternatives, but to also put pressure on the automotive manufactures to begin implementing technologies other than fossil fuel reliant vehicles. However, for the time being, we realize that to ask everyone to stop driving their S.U.Vs and start driving hybrids is unrealistic, so the least that we can do is demand the increased importation of oil from allied democratic nations, as well as an increased use of American oil.

FP: Why do you think so many segments of the Liberal-Left are trying to block efforts such as yours?

Petrilla: Many Americans do not realize the full scope of the threat which we face. Many allow political correctness to come before the safety of our nation, our people, and our very way of life. If every concerned citizen stood up today and helped to awake the rest of the nation, we would certainly succeed in securing a safe future for America.

The UAC believes that education is a fundamental key to the success of this movement, if we are to change the path that the nation is currently on, and are to do what is necessary to secure the future for freedom, we must all be aware of the true nature of our Islamic extremist enemies, and of the threats which we face. We must set aside all differences, we must not focus on what is politically correct, and we must do only what is necessary, all along without loosing sight of what we hold dear. Those extremists who are attacking democracy around the world certainly do not concern themselves with political correctness. If we do not set aside our bureaucratic ways, and insist that the politicians of America awake to these issues, the future of our great nation will be very bleak.

FP: Yes but I am narrowing in on the forces of the Lib-Left that wish to undermine the Patriot Act, to prevent giving the government sufficient powers to fight terror, to keep our borders open, to give terrorists all kinds of “rights” etc. Why would these forces deliberately be putting our nation at risk?

Petrilla: That is a very good question Jamie. I believe that most Americans are actually with us in our battle. However, just as during the days when Communism was still a grave danger to our nation's security, there was a minority of individuals who sided with our enemies for ideological reasons.

Today, many uninformed Americans defend the Islamic extremists with a "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" philosophy. Well I say to those who argue against the efforts of the UAC, that argument is null. With planes being flown into our buildings and the threat of nuclear weapons being detonated within our cities, the time to defend the extremists’ view is over if it ever began, we must now defend ourselves from them. Why should we protect our enemies with the freedoms and liberties that they are trying to destroy? Many Americans don't know the real world horrors that exist in many other places, horrors which the terrorists want to bring here to America. They can't fathom the real threat which we face, and thus any necessary sacrifice at home becomes the threat to their freedom.

I must point out that although many advocates of political correctness, and the protectors of the "rights" and "privileges" of our enemies, are for the most part vastly on the left, there is a large percentage, I would venture to say a silent majority of liberals who are either with us now, or would be with us if they knew the facts of the true nature of our enemies and the threats we face together as a nation. We must act together to assure that the few who wish to undermine our efforts do not succeed.

We have to act now to awake and mobilize those who are concerned. The hypocrisy in America is astounding, there is undoubtedly a large percentage of Americans who believe in the ideals of the United American Committee and our struggle against the Islamic extremist threat. However, many feel certain aspects of these ideals may not be acceptable in mainstream society at this time so they remain silent. It is a sad day when political correctness and silence costs the lives of fellow Americans. Those who are with us yet remain silent will go with the tide, if the tide of the majority awakes and demands action, many Americans will follow. If the tide goes in the other direction, America as we know it will cease to exist.

FP: Mr. Petrilla, you state that many of the Americans who defend Islamic extremists are “uninformed.” I completely disagree with you on this. I think those who defend our enemies are not uniformed at all, but actually very informed. They have an agenda and are in no way naïve. This leads to my next question: you state that these is a minority of individuals who side with our enemies “for ideological reasons.” Kindly tell me what those ideological reasons are. When the likes of Michael Moore and Tom Hayden call for the victory of the other side, what is it that motivates them? What do you think is in their hearts and minds, especially when we are dealing with a ruthless totalitarian death-cult?

Petrilla: These ideological reasons would be one in the same with our enemies, the ideology and thought of America not being the great nation that it truly is, and a wish to see the destruction of the American government.

We are dealing with two distinctly different forces here. One is a force of misguided good intentions, and the other is a force of anti-American nihilism, and in some cases, outright treason. Understanding that, the question becomes how do you respond to these forces?

Freedom of speech is one of many reasons that sets us apart from our enemies. That is, freedom of speech to a certain point, it is only when specific speech preaches and advocates violence and our destruction that we will have a problem. There are many reasons segments of the Liberal-Left are adamantly trying to block efforts such as ours, keeping in mind that these are only segments and not the majority:

In its milder forms, this opposition is borne out of ignorance, confusion, indoctrination and a willingness to retreat to the false comforts of denial and displacement. In its more radical forms, we are encountering irresponsible individuals who are willing to put their ideology before the safety of their fellow citizens. These are blind individuals who would run to the nearest hole if they were ever attacked by our enemies. They are just as vulnerable as any other American to the threats which we face, as I said before, our enemies do not know party lines.

FP: So give us some final words in terms of what each of us can do to safeguard our nation better and to counter the efforts of those who wish to sabotage our security. Give us some concrete short-term steps each of us can make. Also, give us an optimistic scenario in terms of the positive effect your organization will have if you get he support you need.

Petrilla: For those who are concerned about the threats we face, you may unite with fellow concerned citizens and be given direction through the United American Committee. We are constantly working to create new ways to help safeguard the nation against the Islamic extremist threat. Membership is free. Some examples of what the UAC encourages citizens to do to help secure a safe future for America are: to be vigilant of their surroundings, to promote awareness, alerting their friends and family of threats we face, writing letters to the editor and calling talk radio shows alerting the nation of the United American Committee's agenda, and alerting the people of the findings about Islamic extremist activities operating within America and what must be done to put a stop to these activities.

Another very important step is helping to promote legislature that takes a tough stance on the threats which face our nation. Take a moment to write, call, or fax your elected government officials. Help accomplish the U.A.C. agenda. The UAC keeps close track of legislation concerning Islamic extremism and related issues currently in Congress so be sure to be kept up to date. The more ambitious Committee Member can be a leader in their area. Work at the grassroots level, organizing meetings and recruiting fellow concerned citizens to discuss, plan, and implement what can be done to help alert your community, meet at local coffee shops, anywhere you can to organize and get out there to promote awareness of the issues which we face and what must be done.

Remember: democracy is the rule of the citizen, we the citizens must do our part to keep America safe for generations to come. When the citizens stand up, the government will follow. When the citizens stand united behind the common goal of the UAC to defeat the threats we face together as a nation, we will succeed in keeping America safe for our grandchildren. If the citizens stand by and do nothing, the future will belong to our enemies. The choice is yours which legacy you leave behind.

FP: Mr. Petrilla thank you for joining Frontpage Interview today.

Petrilla: My pleasure Jamie, I look forward to speaking with you again in the future.

Top notch thread.

I have suggested removing the IRS tax free (501c3) status for 'Islamic centers' (mosques) be swiftly removed if there is even a hint of jihadic involvement - at any level.

Tax free mosques are used as safe houses for terrorist moles & sleeper cells, and also recruitment centers for future domestic jihadists.

In Saudi Arabia churches nor shuls are not even allowed to exist, but the Wahhabist Saudis can front millions via oil sales for the sole purpose of anti-American /pro-Islamic, subversive, terrorist related activity.

The Shi'ite Iranian régime also operates in the same underhanded fashion but to a lesser extent, simply due to the fact there are more Sunnis (Wahhabists) then Shi'ites in America, Canada, England and the rest of the Western world.

I dont think anyone can take Jesse Petrilla seriously. A challenge was presented to him, to see if he can prove claims against Islam:

Jesse, backed down and hid under his bed. Cowardice, is not an American value, and should be one.

Thanks,
Nadir

You're right, the woman-fearing among Mohammedans is breathtaking. I've heard it stems from all the man-on-boy predation that goes on in the primitive societies caught in the grip of that 7th century cult, but who can say for sure?
