I Will Rebuild With You, Mr. President

By Donna Brazile

On Thursday night President Bush spoke to the nation from my city. I am not a Republican. I did not vote for George W. Bush -- in fact, I worked pretty hard against him in 2000 and 2004. But on Thursday night, after watching him speak from the heart, I could not have been prouder of the president and the plan he outlined to empower those who lost everything and to rebuild the Gulf Coast...

I know, maybe better than anyone, that there are times when it seems that our nation is too divided ever to heal. There are times when we feel so different from each other that we can hardly believe that we are all part of the same family. But we are one nation. We are a family. And this is what we do. When the president asked us to pitch in Thursday night, he wasn't really asking us to do anything spectacular. He was asking us to be Americans, and to do what Americans always do...

Mr. President, I am ready for duty. I am ready to stir those old pots again. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.

The writer, a Democratic political consultant, managed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign.

SHAME-

This is a time to heal... Whatever the intentions of someone. If you cant trust the heart of people when they say something you're just as bad. When a person gives in and says they will be with our President, we must embrace them if they turn their back it will be upon them.

I can't believe the skepticism of the people of America with so much we have been blessed with how can we be so hard at heart.

Watch what you say in front of your children what are you teaching them. Be kind and remember the Golden Rule

Retranslating the retranslation of the translation:

"The Clintons don't want me around no more and I liked what you did with Condi. Got anything open in HUD?"

I suggest we write Ms. Brazille and commend her for this article. And yes also mention the accountability she will have by saying such words. Because so many will be watching. Does she back what she says?

COULD ANYONE SHARE HER E-MAIL ADDRESS

I'm not questioning her intentions. I'm not faulting her reaction. I'm just pointing out that conservatives look to gov't. almost as a last resort while liberals look to gov't. first. Just an observation.

I'm glad she's on board, we need everybody.

I only have two rules when it comes to Liberals and Democrats.
Rule #1: Never ever believe or trust a Liberal or a Democrat.
Rule #2: When a Liberal or a Democrat say something that sounds sensible, Remember Rule Number 1

While I agree that the Democrats in Washington will not change their stripes I'm not so certain about the people the President spoke directly to on Thursday. Brazile might be making a political calculation to embrace the address on Thursday but she's doing so for a good reason...she knows what he said resonated among blacks who were most victimized by Democrat incompetence in Louisiana.

She knows that red and blue map is about urban folks whose cities don't work. When the President acknowledged the inequity in NO and promised not to rebuild in that image, when the folks ABC interviewed right after the speech endorsed his vision, Brazile knew the politics of the situation on the ground don't favor the Democrats. The time is not right for them to stand up and reflect on where decades of their leadership has led. What has to be more troubling for them though is that the ideas and promises that have led to such a loyal voting block have been revealed to be bankrupt. I'm sure they'd like to contain that like one would a chemical spill. Is it any wonder she says it's time to be Americans?

Rush says that people do not follow HATRED, but want a vision. What Pres. Bush gave the people this last Thursday night, was basically a vision. "Where there is no vision, the people will perish." (Proverbs)

The Dems offer absolutely NO VISION. Their hatred and criticism and utterly poor leadership (New Orleans and LA) is turning people off. President Bush's Vision, just like Reagan, is turning people on. I believe that's it, pure and simple.

I'm an optimist and I take this article as it is. I think Brazile was truly inspired and moved by GW's speech. And...I think she will be in big trouble with the DUmmies.

Perhaps because people like her were busy dividing the country. But I am not one to hold grudges. Welcome aboard, Donna!

Great article. I have always suspected the rest of the world doesn't hate Geore Bush and the US as much as the libs and the media (same thing) would like us to believe. Those who do hate us at least fear us.

The second part and this is the biggie all of the poor neighborhoods will have to be bulldozed flat. President Bush is giving them the opportunity to have a home of thier own, a real chance of economic opportunity, and a future. For the last 40plus years all the democrats have given them is Gov. housing, food stamps, welfare, and dispare with no chance at a future. Then at every election tell them it's the Republicans fault they have no future."

You forgot the other thing the Dems have given them - FREE BUS RIDES TO THE POLLING STATION -- with rice and beans!

I'm going to tell you what I think. I think Donna Brazile has been waking up for quite awhile now. I'm not going to be cynical about what she's written because I believe she love her city and she loves New Orleanians. Will she be able to put aside partianship? I don't know, but I think she's really going to try.

Maybe she has a heart and has been forced to see what the welfare state has done to her people.

True. But.....

I just have to believe that when someone as partisan as she is says this, there is a "what's in it for me" reason behind it.

Until proven otherwise, I will always believe there is an ulterior motive behind anything a DIM says like this.
