I bet some NOPD officers had eyes on those sausages for themselves and that's why this lady is in the clink.

There has to be more to the story. It's kind of wierd everyone knows the value of the items are $63.50 but no one knows what the items were. Were they food or other items? More info is needed.

Looting for food to keep from starving is different than looting for a tv, imho. I'm surprised at this arrest. The bail is ridiculously high as well.

Maten has been moved from a parish jail to a state prison an hour away. And the judge who set $50,000 bail by phone — 100 times the maximum $500 fine under state law for minor thefts — has not returned a week’s worth of calls, her lawyer said.

New Orleans Judge.
Probably gone to Vegas.

Even the deli owner who owned the sausage said he did not believe this was right, to arrest her for seeking food.

But if we go here... http://www.zippyvideos.com/8911023771013466/countdown-looting-in-walmart/
we can see the New Orleans Police in a desperate battle with looters...undercover posing AS looters, yeah, THAT'S the story!

Deaconess should bring a VERY large lawsuit against the NOPD, Commodore Nagin, and Hillary's Mini-me Blanco...if there is so much $$$ being thrown about, the Deaconess oughtta get her hand out fast!

Also, make sure the JBT's NEVER are allowed to wear a badge, or carry a gun again! Again...we see the LEO's are more interested in the EASY colar, rather than exerting any effort to catch the REAL bad guys!

Oooh....a cop hater. Never mind. About half of the folks here on FR were in favor of simply shooting all looters on sight. The other half were divided between letting people take food and jailing everyone who looted.

But you're special. You hate cops.

I didn't see anywhere in the story that the woman took the sausage from the deli. The story is that she went to her car to get some sausage to eat. Did the sausage come from the deli? - I don't think that has been established from the story.

From what I read on another thread...the Deaconess had a Hotel room where she was taking care of her ill husband, and she had parked her car near this Deli. In her car was a cooler with food, and she was getting the food to take back to the Hotel to grill some sausages for her husband.

The Deli was being looted nearby while she was at her car, and the cops didn't/couldn't catch any of the perps, so they busted a 73 year old crippled Granny who couldn't do the crime because of her condition, nor could she run from the JBT's.

Now, I dunno about it all...but in this case...I'll believe the Deaconess over them proven idiots in the NOPD!
