Ive believed all along that the state was busy tring to show how much better they could deal with the disaster than the feds. By rights the state should have had a handle on it beforehand but they didn't.

While I adjust my foil beanie I can't help but wonder if the democrats would allow people to die if they thought they could blame the president. The lust for power is a mighty strong drug.

Bush's fault! They are crying because he didn't break 100 laws, step in, take control, and micromanage the situation for the corrupt and incompetent politicians in LA and NO.

From the Mayor to the Governor, the corruption and ineptitude is staggering. They probably do need Federal supervision, similar to Washington DC.

I wonder if he's going to show how aid was offered and she waited 24 hours to decide.

I am sure this will be another shitburger for the administration. The real problem with the reporting in all this is the mentality that government should be there for everything and it should be omnipotent. All we heard was where's the government where was the government to prevent this what should government do or have done. It is the nanny mentality that has taken over the minds of at least half the nation in one way or another.

Tom Tancredo lays blame pretty accurately in my opinion. He says 60% state, 30% city, and 10% feds.

The crisis in New Orleans "deepened" due to one reason only: the massive incompetence of state and local officials. They severely bungled their duties as the hurricane approached. They severely bungled their duties after it hit. They are STILL severely bungling their duties.

Just about a half hour ago, I was listening to a live report by Adam Housely on Fox News as he accompanied a team of Los Angeles Fire Dept. Search and Rescue guys going door to door in New Orleans searching for bodies. Adam said that NO ONE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT had done any planning for this, or taken charge and provided leadership. Gen. Honore is the person who stepped up, got a plan together and is providing the command and control to execute it.

Adam also said that he's heard from a number of New Orleans cops, even fairly senior ones, who said from the beginning there was no leadership on their department. No command and control. They still aren't getting any directions from NOPD command.

I dont think so, there were guys in Baton Rouge waiting to go in on the 29th but they said the State EMA wouldnt let them, so I have heard but havent been able to substantiate. Maybe this is the info finally getting out.

Maybe so. But did Tancredo identify what the Feds did wrong and then compare that to what the local did wrong...or did he just pull a number out of his hat?

A strong FEMA director would have gone in anyway and taken his lumps.
