Alert for fraudulent FEMA agents 09-03-2005

The following was forwarded to me from Local 3406 President Judy Bruno. While few of us are able to deal with FEMA at this time, this is VERY valuable information once we return home. THANKS JUDY

IMPORTANT NOTICE

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd

SITUATION

FEMA uniforms, badges, insignias and official letterhead forms have been stolen in the metro New Orleans area. These items are now being unlawfully used in seizures of personal property, vehicles, gasoline, etc. These individuals are representing themselves as “FEMA Procurement Officers”.

BE AWARE

- There are no FEMA Procurement Officials in the New Orleans or surrounding areas at this time.

- Legitimate FEMA officials DO NOT carry any firearms.

PRECAUTIONARY STEPS TO TAKE

Should you be approached by someone wearing FEMA uniforms, please take the following precautions:

1) Request a photo ID from the individual. All FEMA representatives are required to have a photo ID.

2) DO NOT give any questionable FEMA representative any vehicles, gasoline or other supplies.

3) Report any questionable FEMA contacts to your supervisor AND the Gulf Ops EOC in Baton Rouge at tel. # 225-296-3421 or 225-296-3335

4) If a questionable FEMA representative is armed, take no chances. Give the individual what he is asking for.

Never been a big fan of org labor but in times of need they are always there.The office was on Canal St.This was an old local of mine before heading south .....some interesting info for all,especially Bell South employess

Spoke to some x worker buds in the area and this info is for families of Bell South workers and technicians and workers doing restoration,but all can benifit
Sad there are scum bags who would be this low at a time like this.
