Shephard Smith "Grandstanding" in New Orleans, showing dead bodies on Fox News.
Fox News Channel ^ | 090105 | Shep Smith

Shep showed a dead body along the freeway. How low can you go to grandstand? Things are bad in N.O., but he didn't have to show it.

A little old lady was nursing a near dead child when low and behold Shep showed up with the camera with leading questions that led no one.

That wasn't a little old lady, it was the mother of that five DAY old baby. She must have just gotten out of the hospital when the storm hit. She and her family had been stuck in the attic of their house when the waters rose so quickly. They were rescued, brought to the roadway and told to start walking. They had no food or water, and that baby was beginning to get sick. Shep or his crew, saw them, and brought the mother and baby to sit in the shade. Now all the time they'd been walking, there were police cars passing by them. Shep sent his producer out to stop another one coming by to take the mother and baby for medical attention.

I'm glad he did that. That baby likely would have died otherwise.

Why does everyone hate Shepherd Smith so much?

They're probably closet gays who get a slight "rise" out of the dear cute Shep, and it worries them a bit.

;-)

FEMA is offered but the Governor has to ask the Feds to take charge. Who knows about this dingbat! That Governor has to rank at the bottom of Governors for taking action.

Why can't military helicopters fly food/water to those people?

I was wondering the same thing. People keep bitching about the Federal Govt. not doing anything, but the National Guard on the scene are under the authority of the GOVERNOR of the state, NOT the President.

If Rock Levinthal can get in there with his camera crew and film starving and dying people, what's so hard about loading some helicopters with crates of food and water and dropping them wherever people are gathered? Guess I just don't understand. Any answers? And Condi partying at some theatrical production the other night? "They have no bread? Let them eat cake."

Hiding under his desk from Bill O'Reilly?

Lol. I am not a huge fan of Mr. O. But when the chips are down he is like a pit bull. He really went after the Red Cross and their incompetence after 9/11. Now he is after looters and the oil companies for price gauging. I like that.

Ok, Shep just came up a couple of notches in my estimation!

Good, Shep is a pretty good fellow.

The city has full authority to go into any store in the city and 'requisition' supplies. There are enough stores in town that they could get food and water for those people.

Interesting concept....what made you think of it? ;)

BTW, I just watched the video of Shep -- where is his beard after being without water and he sure doesn't look like he lost weight.

When people on this thread started to defend him, I decided to go look at the video on Fox News. Shep doesn't have a beard so looks to me like he is getting along just fine and guess it didn't suit him to help out the people that needed water? Better for his agenda to spin a story to suit himself. He seems to be getting around just fine so why not bring these folks water?

I agree the governor seemed clueless the other day; didn't know anything about anything, offered no plans, no leadership, just a kind of numb helplessness. It was almost as if SHE needed to be airlifted out of the area. The contrast with Giuliani was striking.

Uh...Rick levinthal has been handing out water to some extent. And what's with the childish rant about Condi Rice?

I imagine he's had something to eat. But I think they've finally gotten some food and water out to that overpass haven't they? No shelter, but some victuals?

"This city is acting like a third world country!"

That's an insult to third world countries.

My prayers are with the deceased man' family. I do not appreciate Shep commenting on national tv that the officers and aid workers just kept going by this man and did nothing. What did he want them to do? They are trying to rescue the living and get them to safety. The deceased man has ceased his suffering, the others are continuing in theirs.
Shep needs to turn his comments around and commend the people who are trying to help. No one had anticipated the level of need for N.O. and help is pouring in at a fast pace.
Shep needs to be yanked from the lines and let him get some rest and a decent meal.

I don't like Shep because he grandstands and makes the story about himself instead of reporting. Guess you didn't see him the night before the hurricane came in when he looked to be partying. Louzy journalist on top of being a grandstander.

Sorry but a background in journalism will tell anyone that someone that has been there since Saturday would have a beard if he is staying with those folks. No beard told me everything I needed to know. Watch Cantori from the Weather Channel and see his beard grow as the days pass while waiting for the hurricane -- he doesn't hole up until time for his next report.

BTW, I don't care if Shep is gay or not -- he is a grandstander reporter. Local reporters have far outpaced Shepherd Smith in giving real reports IMHO!

Oh, I'm sure Schwegman's Distribution center or some of the other big food chains have distribution centers nearby.
