Abusing Wounded Heroes [WashTimes on Pinkos at Walter Reed

The leftist protesters who gather every Friday night outside Walter Reed Medical Center are inspired by a radical agenda that few if any soldiers share. The protesters -- organized by the radical antiwar group CodePink and others -- have been photographed with signs bearing insults like "Maimed for a Lie" and "Died for Halliburton." They have lined mock flag-draped coffins outside the hospital. These cannot be meant to heal the wounds of those whom the nation has sent to battle.

The protesters insist they have the soldiers' best interests at heart, and that they don't intend to demean anyone. This is nonsense and the protesters know it. They seek to use wounded soldiers to make a political statement. They are callous to the wounded and their families with their lectures to the injured about the circumstances of their injuries. They affect righteous indignation that anyone thinks their tactics repellant.

Sorry that the WashTimes did not mention our counter-protests. I will link reports of the FReepers counter-protests below.

For those of you in the DC area or those willing to travel for the troops, we need some additional FReepers to join us for FReeping Code Pink every Friday night, until further notice, starting at 6:30 pm and until about 9:30 pm. How about coming out this Friday? You can join us in progress if you can't make the beginning of the event.

Can you sacrifice an evening to honor the much greater sacrifice that the troops are making for our freedom?

DC Chapter co-leader kristinn has confirmed that we shall continue FReeping the Code Pinkos every Friday night until they stop their obscene blood dance outside the hospital of our war-wounded. If you agree with me that it is outrageous for Code Pinkos to demonstrate at a hospital with war-wounded troops inside, please come out and join us in a peaceful counter-protest.

One of the amputees told me months ago that he doesn't want other wounded troops coming into Walter Reed and seeing only the Code Pinkos at the gates. He explained that the FReeper presence there was extremely important to counter the Pinkos. Please join us and be a part of our peaceful counter-protest to Code Pink.

Please don't let the troops think that regular Americans are too busy with TV, ballgames, movies and other recreation to peacefully counter America-hating leftists.

Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future.

As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.

Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Start at 6:30 pm and go to about 9:30 pm.

Code Pinkos have been setting up on the southwest corner of the Georgia Ave/Elder St intersection. We've been setting up on the northeast corner across the street from Walter Reed's entrance gate.

Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink.

If we can sufficiently outnumber the leftists often enough, embarrassment may cause the leftists to stop these outrageous morale-damaging ("Maimed for a lie" is one of their signs) demonstrations at the hospital.

The same FReepers are doing almost all of the these FReeps. We do so gladly as a labor of love for our brave troops fighting terrorists over there, instead of waiting for the terrorists to come here. We FReep especially for those wounded in combat. However, some FReepers' family vacations or other obligations may prevent some of them from coming this next Friday.

Our troops are bold enough to face bullets, mortars, IEDs, and suicide bombers. Are you bold enough to get out from behind the keyboard, FReep in person, and stand up for the wounded troops at Walter Reed?

If you're in the DC area or willing to travel there and don't have family or work considerations that keep you from FReeping, can you spare a few hours on a Friday night? Will you?

WASHINGTON, DC, 8/26/05 – They are tall and muscular, with tanned arms bare to the shoulders. Their black leather vests are encrusted with insignia from their exploits, in the military and on motorcycles. Virile men with long gray hair and weathered skin, they are ageless bad boys with cordially menacing attitudes. They are bikers, and not just any bikers; they are three of the five board members of DC’s Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally and Thunder buddies from North Carolina, and they have just arrived, with heart-stopping engine roars and banshee brake stops, in a hospital zone. They have come to join our FReep of ultra-left Code Pink’s weekly, morale-sapping “vigil” at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the nation’s preeminent military care facility, where wounded personnel are brought to heal.

DC Chapter FReepers swelled from the usual 20 or so to more than 70 individuals last Friday, August 26, thanks to an article by reporter Marc Morano of CNSNews.com (article and video here.) After 18 weeks of media indifference, FreeRepublic’s counterprotests of Code Pink’s despicable choice of location for their weekly demoralization and anti-war venom finally hit the airwaves Wednesday and Thursday. The story was picked up by Drudge Report, the radio shows of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and others (including several area bloggers), and televised on FoxNews Network by the John Gibson, Brit Hume and Hannity & Colmes shows.
