Kyoto on the horizon (Rinocrat alert)
The Boston Globe ^ | 8-25-05

Posted on 08/29/2005 4:26:54 PM PDT by inquest

MASSACHUSETTS and eight other Northeastern states are close to taking a crucial step in reducing the greenhouse gases that cause global warming. The states are proposing to first cap the carbon dioxide emissions of their electric power plants and then reduce them by 10 percent by 2020. To emit CO{-2}, plants would need special carbon allowances, which could be bought and sold among power producers throughout the nine states. The proposed reduction is modest, but the principle of a carbon cap is so important to slowing climate change that the initiative is well worth supporting.

The Northeastern states have been led on this issue by New York's Republican governor, George Pataki, who is considering a presidential campaign.

Romney and Pataki are on board with this. And both appear to have their eye on the White House. You know that if they get in, they'll be pushing for Kyoto, or something just as bad.

Coming to you soon... a government mandated catalytic converter in your underwear. Series, if I remeber my Earth Science class in grade school (40+ years ago), the Earth epidermis is 2/3 water. And the oceans, lakes and ponds convert CO2 into O2. The more CO2, the more O2 is generated.

Are there any photosynthesis gurus here would like to clarify on this? I believe that part of this logic is why Rush harps on the "environmental whackos." If I'm wrong, I'd like clarification. Thanks.

I don't want to hear anyone complaining about loss of manufacturing jobs if this goes through.

How are you reducing by buying credits from other plants?

Let them keep this in the Northeast, I dont need a higher electric bill especially with gas going up every day.

Clearly, the answer is a gigantic windfarm off the coast of Hyannis, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket!

Clean, efficient, and a perpetual visual thorn in the side of Ted Kennedy and Walter Cronkite!! LOL!

I don't have any problem with regions committing hari-kiri. After all, I don't have to live in one of them.

But I think this just shows why it's important for all of us to be careful about who we elect to the Senate and House. You never know when just one vote is needed to keep the rest of us safe from the whackos.

A NE RINO has less chance of getting into the White House than I do.

As far as this nonsense, all it's going to do is hasten the flight of the snowbirds to the Red states.
Of course they can always increase taxes...

Any NE states growing up there?
Come to Florida and leave your liberal inclinations at the Mason Dixon line.

Germany will bail? That would be the death knell, but I think I have a better chance of seeing pigs fly.

but, it would be major great to see them do it.

Romney and Pataki are on board with the because Northeastern moneyed interests want very badly to invest Kyoto "credits" abroad. It's part of "building up the third whirled," you know, those people they and their European friends have been screwing royally for about fifty years.

Under the US constitution, states are not allowed to make agreements with each other without congressional approval. I think its called Article 1.

States are especially not allowed to make binding agreements with extranational entities such as the UN. To choose to abide by a treaty that has already been rejected is somewhat beyond the pale as well.

Maybe somebody should tell Oregon.
