Will Colleges Respect Your Child's Rights?

Hundreds of thousands of families across North America are now preparing their children for college. As parents hustle to buy clothing, repair secondhand cars and otherwise fret about the impending separation, they should consider how their son or daughter's human rights will fare on campus.

Their freedom of speech is particularly vulnerable.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) has just released its Speech Code of the Month Award for August, which recognizes abuses of First Amendment rights.

The winner? Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, a public institution allegedly bound by the Constitution.

Stockton's speech code policies contain several now-standard provisions. For example, it prohibits "All forms of unlawful discrimination based upon race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, marital status, familial status, affectional or sexual orientation, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information ... or disability."

It considers discrimination to be present "even if there was no intent ... to harass or demean another.

Since it does not specifically mention Religion, I assume it is open house on trouble-making cult members, like Christians.

Best way to avoid all this: help your kid work toward entering one of our nation's military academies.

3 years ago my oldest son told me he wasn't looking forward to college, with all its left-wing professors and PC culture. I told him there was an alternative. He worked his butt off, and is now at West Point.

He was already squared away, but since going through bootcamp this summer, he is well on his way to being a man.

Its includes but is not limited to, being an illegitmate child, being the child of divorced parents, or of being a child of a single parent or being the child of a gay couple, etc.

Disease or inherited diseases.

They meant AIDS, but did not want to limit themselves, it would also include diabetics and other groups.

Congradulations. Sounds like the Army had a fine example of the American Warrior. I pray he becomes a credit to his Army and his country like General Thomas Franks and not a self - serving brown- noser like Wesley Clark.
