He used to be a fairly frequent contributor to National Review, during the late '70's and through the '80's. His columns were always upbeat, giving very well documented explanations of how and why the conservative movement was gaining strength and would prevail in the long run.

In recent years, it is my impression he has been more active behind the scenes, as an organizer, fundraiser, and advocate. He's very smart, energetic, and articulate. Kind of like Newt.

I believe his reputation has been tarnished to some extent by his chummy relationship with certain Arab organizations and governments, and his subtle advocacy on their behalf. I could be wrong on this point, and may be mixing him up with another Norquist.
