The future favors peace after missteps in Iraq [Projectile Barf Alert]
Knoxville News Sentinel ^ | August 19, 2005 | Don Williams

Down by the riverside on Wednesday, as twilight seeped into the river gorge at Volunteer Landing, about 100 peace advocates [out of a total county population of about 350,000 in a town that's the home of the University of Tennessee] drifted in from three directions, four if you count those descending from the crosswalk over Neyland Drive. Athletes, lawyers, writers, politicians, carpenters, teachers and students formed a circle, lit candles and, at 7:30 sharp, joined their prayers and voices to thousands of others singing out at such gatherings across the country in support of Cindy Sheehan, mother of the hour.

Ostensibly innocuous title to the contrary notwithstanding, I'm posting this piece of anti-American drivel from one of our local columnists for all Freepers to have a go at it.

Some of the juicer pieces of real drivel are:

Peace advocates spoke of Sheehan's courage, Bush's perfidy, the need to speak the truth about our leaders. Had I felt at liberty to speak, I would've said something like the following

Don, why didn't you feel the "liberty to speak? Is it because you knew the Crawford Gestapo would grab you and drag you off to Camp Cupcake for political re-education, the way your friends, the North Vietnamese "re-educated" people from the south? Of course your fear of the Crawford Gestapo seems to have abated enough to write a column that reaches thousands, instead of a paltry 100. Maybe your expressed fear is just a bit of self-important grandstanding.

In our time, fewer than 2,000 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and yet most people see this war for the madness it is. We see the torture, the beheadings, the lies about causes. The true costs of landmines [sic] and depleted uranium and post-traumatic stress are seeping into public consciousness.

Our fighting is "madness" only if a reasonable person can actually believe that cutting and running in the face of the Islamofascist subhumans will enhance our security. It won't. Instead, it will encourage them to come right over here and perpetrate horrors that will make 9/11 a small child's joke, just as Clinton's weakness in dealing with them in the first place encouraged 9/11.

Treating womens' panties on the heads of prisoners and leading prisoners around on dog leashes, acts not much different than a lot of fraternity hazing, and no where near as hard as a lot of military training, as morally equivalent to deliberately murdering Danny Berg by sawing his head off with a dull knife on the Internet achieves a new low of moral blindness; it and shows the hopeless depravity of the anti-American movement (A.K.A. the "peace movement")

Rational people of good will can win out in the end if we try hard enough, thanks to communications, the ubiquitous image of this fragile earth in space and the growing realization that God does not choose sides in political slaughter.

Eventually this knowledge will spread to our worst enemies through coaxing, incentives, discourse, negotiations and aid.

This knowledge will spread from such actions as it did to the North Koreans who took Clinton's peaceful nuclear assistance and used it to prefect their bombs and the mullahs of Iran who accepted Carter's assistance in defeating the Shah and are now working on nukes that the Islamofascists can deliver here.

Still, there is a peril to be faced. Old Cold Warriors like Donald Rumsfield, Vice President Cheney, President Bush and Paul Wolfowitz - not to mention truly horrendous tyrants in the mold of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden - have much to lose once people turn away from war as the primary means of resolving conflicts. The question is whether they can reach up from their moldy graves and, with their nukes and robot drones and battle schemes, bring the whole works crashing down around us. I'm betting they'll fail if people of good will remain vigilant and continue to speak out.

Again we have the repulsive moral equation of our leaders with Saddam and Osama, except he goes on to imply that President Bush and the cabinet members are a bunch of vampires reaching up "from their moldy graves." What a fantastic way to encourage the Islamofascists to continue murdering Americans and to assure ourselves a real holocaust if we cut and run the way he wants us to.

... about 100 peace advocates ...

Apply million-moonbat math, and -- voila! -- it's as big as Woodstock.

HUGE carp, especially next to the river boat. Some have to be close to 30 pounds.

Cindy Sheehan: 35% Favorable 38% Unfavorable Cindy Sheehan, the grieving mother who maintained an anti-War protest outside of President Bush's ranch, is viewed favorably by 35% of Americans and unfavorably by 38%. In general, people see in Sheehan what they want to see. Opinion about Sheehan is largely based upon views of the War, rather than views about the woman herself. More...

Just what Freepers have been saying. ZERO impact for Cindy"I'm changing the world" Sheehan. All she is doing for Moveon is polarizing the electorate. Those who hate Bush on the Hysteric Left love Cindy. Those who hate Bush on the Cast Iron Right, HATE Cindy just as much. Thanks Moveon for spending all this money on a PR exercise to remind us "conservatives" why the Hysteric Left can NEVER be trusted with political power ever again at any level.

They should not be pushed in with the carp. After all, their bodily emissions will poison the poor carp.
