Commission Coverup?
New York Post Online ^ | August 12, 2005 | Deborah Orin

IT'S starting to look as if the 9/11 Commission turned a blind eye to key questions that could embarrass one of its own members — Clinton-era Justice Department honcho Jamie Gorelick.

This week brought the stunning revelation that elite military spies pinpointed Mohammed Atta and three other hijackers as a terror cell more than a year before 9/11 — but were barred from alerting lawmen to try to lock them up.

Why were they barred from alerting local lawmen and why?

I don't want to register to find out.

Can you answer that question?

From the article:

This week brought the stunning revelation that elite military spies pinpointed Mohammed Atta and three other hijackers as a terror cell more than a year before 9/11 — but were barred from alerting lawmen to try to lock them up.

A prime reason why that warning never came is that Gorelick — as top deputy to then-Attorney General Janet Reno — issued a 1995 order creating a "wall" that blocked intelligence on terrorists from being shared with law enforcement.

I also heard this week that because Atta had a green card, and was "in the country legally", the Clinton administration forbade law enforcement from investigating him or tracking him, or doing anything to keep him under surveillance.

Bill Clinton is responsible for what happened to this country on 9/11/01.

A lot of conservatives would have agreed with that "wall" back then.

The news I find interesting is that having to do with the Clintonistas on the 9/11 commission who were making sure that the records were sanitized so information about mistakes or failures of the Clinton administration didn't get into the published 9/11 commission report.

Gotta go.

No wonder Bill Clinton hasn't beat up W on Iraq. ..We could have stopped 9/11 if it weren't for his ACLU card carrying attorneys' who kept this info from the commission.

I am with you. This is a very interesting story, and just may be what we needed to put a stop to a Clinton 08 run for the White House.

Gorelick took Hubble's spot as de facto AG when he went to prison. Neither Reno or Bill Clinton controlled this position....it was controlled by none other than the beast itself.

Keep pushing guys and we will soon hear the inhuman screams of the ex-Senator!

I will never understand this country.

I imagine others may have mentioned that this information was well known while the commission was still seated.

Why is it news now...?

I would assume they passed the information up the chain of command? Hard to see how this would not have been known to the Clinton Whitehouse.

Pure and simple. Clinton was looking down the road to the 1996 elections. With all the foreign money coming into his campaign, especially from China and Indonesia, Clinton could not afford to have the CIA talking to the FBI. So conveniently, the Deputy Attorney General put up the wall.

That old post of mine has logged over 900 new views since last night-- the subject is heating up again. The cumulative damage from this, and Pirro, may be Hill's undoing. Cross fingers!

I know every Freeper was pounding th edoors of the Commission about Gorelick during their investigative session. The Chairman came out and said he was keeping her on the commission. The FIX was in from the Beginning divert any blame from the Clinton administration or as much as possiable and to pin all the blame on Bush.

Remember all of the hullabaloo about Clark, his book and his testimony before the Commission, SMOKE SCREEN!! Gorelick was directing the info and made sure the blows to the Clinton Admin were glancing blows and would not tarnish Hills attempt to get into the WHite House and the Progressives back in power.

Just wait. Next story out will be that W knew about it for longer than BJ knew about it, so it's all W's fault.
