Orgainsed Islamic Terror

Al Muhajiroun (Khavarej) is referred to a clandestine group of four who cooperated to assassinate four leaders at promptly the same time: Imam Ali who was a religious leader (the fourth Suni's Khalif and the first Shiite's Imam), Moavieh who was the leader of the land, Amro Aas who was a canning politician and a senior advisor to Moavieh, and - Of the four only one, namely Ibn Moljam, successfully carried out his assassination by wounding Imam Ali with a poisonous sword, during the Imam's pray. Imam Ali died of his wound on the third night, the 21st, of Ramadan. The motives behind the attack, was that Al Muhajiroun considered the chosen targets as too moderate, and who lacked commitment to the strict code of Islamic principles. The event, which took place almost 1400 years ago, shook the Moslem community at the time but the clandestine terror groups have continued to operate throughout the Moslem's history, exerting pressure on the rulers of their time.

The wave of assassinations of Iranian politicians, by the Islamic extremists, has continued to the present day, and more recent targets in the history are: Hassan-Ali Mansour, the elegant prime minister who was gun down in 1965 by Navab Safavie, a rogue Islamist. Post Iranian revolution in 1979, a hit list of dissidents was compiled and subsequently assassinations were carried out on: Shahriar Pahlavi, the son of Ashraf Pahlavi who was loved by the military, Shahpour Bakhtiar, who was Shah's last appointed Prime Minister, Dr. Ghasemlou, who was a prominent Kurdish leader, Dariush Forouhar, who was the Minister of Labour in Bazargan's cabinet, and so on! The group responsible for these assassinations, since 1979, was a rogue group within the Ministry of Intelligence and who reported directly to Saied Emami, a protege of Islamic radicalism. Dr. Ali Akbar Velayatie, Iran's foreign secretary during Rafsanjani's eight years presidency, has recently indicated that the orders for the hit list and others, including the so called "serial murders", were issued by the authorities, who were beyond his government's control; tacitly blaming the Hojatieh group. Dr. Velayatie has reasoned that such acts of murders did little to push his foreign policy of expanding ties with the west, specially with the so called EU3: France, Germany and Britain, thereby trying to exonerate himself from the judgement issued at Mykonous trial, and in effect pointing the finger of blame at a more sinister group in Tehran.

Ever since 9/11 the world has been witnessing the unfolding, supposedly a new breed of, Islamic radicalism which has engulfed not only the autocratic Moslem countries but also has overwhelmed the democratic non-Moslem countries. The conspiracy theory, that followed the twin tower attacks in New York, has now subsided and given way to a sense of bewilderment and the majority, regardless of their faiths, are wondering whether the bush fire that has been spreading since those attacks could be brought under control. Post 9/11, Bali, Istanbul, Madrid and London followed suit and became the targets of terror attacks. In particular the suicide bombs that went off on 7/7 in London have presented a particularly disturbing scenario: the home grown suicide bombers!

Osama Bin Laden whose contributions, to the world at large and the Islamic countries in particular, has been a wave of terror attacks targeted at anything that goes against the strict code of Islamic values, has been instrumental in spreading the message of Jihad, through acts of suicides, around the globe and creating the contemporary Al Muhajiroun cells in the very centres of the western world. Although of a different sinister breed, the Hojatieh group follows similar ideals as Al Qaeda. The Hojatieh group, who is based in Iran, even questions Ayatollah Khomeini's doctrines and uses the powers of Ayatollah Khamenaei as a means to an end. In short the Hojatieh is the Shiite's version of Sunni's Al Muhajirouns (known in the west as: Al Qaeda) and the two cooperate at the highest levels.

Mahmoud Ahmadie Nejad, the president-elect in Iran, was chosen by the Hojatieh to open a new front, in the war against the western democratic values. He is the first such leader of the fourth republic in Iran. The US and EU have expressed their worries against the president-elect. The two powerful blocs know only too well that the Hojatieh group is the mastermind behind Iran's pseudo credit (extra legal) market, laundering money on an international scale, trafficking drugs en-route from Afghanistan to Europe, printing US notes that surface in Lebanon, smuggling oil and other basic commodities (such as copper and ore) to UAE and India and from these destinations onto the open markets in the west. The lucrative trades, and soon the official oil revenues of the Islamic Republic of Iran, all go into Hojatieh's coffers, and thus the menacing campaign of terrors in the European capitals will, in due course, not only become a common place, as the source of financing the terror campaigns has just received a new lease of life, but also the acts will become more destructive in nature. Interestingly enough, Hojatieh group has a military wing, called Ghods (or Jerusalem), and boasts Mahmoud Ahmadie Nejad as one of his high ranking personnel, who previously took part in a number of assassinations abroad, especially in Europe.

Reported abuse and humiliations in Abu Gharib or Guantanamo Bay prisons are bad public relations for the US, even though the US is holding some of the most notorious criminals in the world. In contrast the Al Muhajiroun and Hojatieh see no bounds in creating terror tactics. Organisers of the Islamic terrors intent on causing havocs and disruptions in the western countries, at the expense of western beliefs in democracy: freedom of speech and movements of individuals. Arguments by scores of Imams that "such terror acts are not Islamic" are quite debatable given that one of the five pillars of the Islamic belief rests on Jihad (war on infidels), which is open to interpretations by the Islamic scholars. Nevertheless the loophole, created by such interpretations, has provided the Al Muhajiroun and Hojatieh with a fearsome weapon: suicide attacks on Kofar (the infidels). If the experience in Israel is anything to go by, the wave of suicidal attacks will not wane by the mere passing of times, as the individuals who carry out such attacks receive a symbolic key to the heaven's gate and are glorified by the organisers of terrors, during their milkround to an army of volunteers, waiting in wing! Notwithstanding the surviving family members receive financial aid in perpetuity by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Before the Berlin wall came down, the recognition of infidels was quite simple: the atheists (the communists). Now the battle field is drawn closer and against other faiths, even moderate Moslems themselves, who do not believe in the strict code of Islamic values. But where is this battle field? Contrary to the US administration's belief that this is in Iraq, the battle must be fought out on two fronts. In the short term, the battle must be won in Iran. Iraq is merely the frontline. The machinery including: planning, financing, organising, recruiting through internet, resting of the generals (Bin Laden, Zarqavi and others, who are yet to be recognised) are all taking place in Iran.

The Americans and their British counterparts could achieve more, if they zoom in their radars on the soon to be, Islamic Nuclear Iran and eliminate the root of the terrors' logistics. Failing to eradicate the problem at its source will shift the battle fields onto the European capitals. In the long term Islam itself needs revising, by the Islamic scholars. Once gain the Shiite branch of Islam is a good place to start, as not only the Iranians have now nurtured the abuses of Sourehs at first hand but also the scores of youths turning into Christianity provide ample impetus for the Theologians to give up their political powers, live within the boundary of Qom (the traditional city that educates Shiite scholars) and start moderating the religion from within.

For those Iranians who care about their motherland, a sincere desire to end their internal bickering is a must as every opportunity to support their fellow country men, inside Iran, in the pursuit of a just democratic Iran, will continue to be lost. As we are a nation who is for ever in need of heroes we therefore need to gather around a person who can stand up against the top dog and at least initiate a movement where the rest of us can voice our protests. Like it or not our hero, in these hours of desperations, is none other than Akbar Ganji. The movement is a national referendum, supervised by an independent international committee. Lose this opportunity then the dismal scenario, as depicted by the International Crisis Group, would shape into reality which implies Hojatieh in power, for the foreseeable future.
