The percentage of people who say they consider Bush honest has dropped slightly from the start of the year. In January, 53 percent described him that way in the AP-Ipsos poll, while 45 percent said they did not believe he was honest. Now, people are just about evenly split 48 percent saying he's honest and 50 percent saying he's not.
A solid majority still see Bush as likable and a strong leader, but a growing number view the president's confidence as arrogance, up from 49 percent in January to 56 percent now.
The poll of 1,000 adults was conducted Aug. 1-3 by Ipsos, an international polling firm. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

1. Note the polling of "adults", only 80% of whom said they were registered voters.
2. Be sure to go to the actual poll results summary.
Here you will see that they VASTLY oversampled Democrats, and the actual questions asked.
Note that even with the nonstop Dem lies and criticism, and the oversampling of Dems, the approval vs. disapproval of President Bush's foreign policy and terrorism, is about even within the margin of error: 47 approve vs. 51 disapprove.
When people are asked about whether they approve of how CONGRESS is handling its job, 33% approve, and 66% disapprove.
63% find President Bush likable, with only 36% who don't find him likeable.
56% find Pres. Bush intelligent.
More oversampling against Bush shows up in the demographics of the respondents: 53% employed full time, 11% employed part time, 22% retired, 14 % unemployed.
Investments/stocks/mutual fund owners: 51%. Again, I think in the total population this is much higher, they oversampled the "have-nots".
Its difficult to understand someone else's strategy, even when they are telling you what they are doing... much less, when they have to keep it secret.
Ever watch a chess game?
I can just imagine Bush getting out on TV and disclosing our entire strategy. Yea, that would help. Then of course, the bad guys would change theirs.
As in business, "read the fine print".
With MSM polls, "check the internals".
I'll leave it up to you and Jesse to "Keep hope alive". I have lost all confidence in Bush.
Well, he has a lot of folks thinkin' he is a Texan....
Yes, years since a terrorist attack on this country and roaring economy is quite a mess. We were all better off when the terrorists thought we were sitting ducks when they attacked the world trade center the first time, the U.S.S. Cole, when intelligence agencies couldn't communicate, when we were headed into a recession.
The RATS attempted to win the 2004 election through polls. The whole cycle from 2001-2004 was always about polls. Now, after Bush actually won with 60,000,000 votes, the RATS are back with polls.
I think the RATS are very confused. The Constitution says power is decided through elections, not through polls. Does anybody have questions?
"Here you will see that they VASTLY oversampled Democrats, and the actual questions asked."
That's how they do it. I worked in media polling for Yankelovich Partners the former polling unit for the CNN Time Magazine poll. The director of the poll is a major Democrat and a major liberal. He never cared that they oversampled Democrats. When I pointed out to him the skew and the need to weight the data to take out the skew, he just waved me off. This is why I don't trust media polls. They're quick and dirty, more interested in getting the results out quick to meet a press deadline than getting it right. These things are best ignored.
It because of reasons like this that I am registered as a Democrat. I get to upset their polling numbers, particularly during phone surveys!
I tell ya, one of the major problems with polls is that there's no way to verify anyone's accuracy. You just have to wonder about those that lie & it can't be buried in the margin of error!! Polls rely on simple trust worthiness which is not VERIFIED !
"He has gotten us in a mess."
As opposed to TERRORISTS WHO ATTACKED US ..??
The left has tried to manipulate public opinion on the President since day 1, and have failed. They tried to manipulate the vote through bogus polls and they failed.
Polling is designed to make headlines and undermine the President's authority.
Stupid leftists. They're just losers, that's all..........
Please.......indulge us, and tell us of the 'confidence' you used to have in Bush, and when that was.
Oh, okay .. I read you .. first it was "I might think he was dishonest later .. to .. I have los all confidence in Bush.
Which means .. you never voted for him in the first place so what are you whining about.
The President has gotten us into a 'mess' by keeping us safe for almost four years since 9/11, creating a booming economy through judicious tax cuts, and pro-business policy, lowered unemployment to 5%, rebuilt the military after it was decimated by xlinton, restored honor to the WH after it was dragged through the mud by xlinton, cracked down on corporate fraud that blossomed under xlinton, has moved America back toward a nation that honors life, and stands for the moral values it was founded on, has increased the Republican to Dem ratio in both houses of Congress................yeah.....it's quite a mess, isn't it?
I think it is called "seminar Freeper".
A guy who pretends to be a conservative, but finds the worst in Bush's performance.
I can find things wrong with Bush, but I don't dwell on them. I can not find anything wrong with our military strategy other than we are being too soft... but I understand the limitations imposed by our socialist..err...democrat legislators on the process.
It's more than "getting the results out quick" .. it's GETTING THE ANSWER THEY WANT! .. WHICH IS BUSH IS BAD!
I wish somebody would tell these people - Bush isn't running for office again .. so the meaningless polls aren't worth the powder to blow them up.
is it amazing that in the eight years that slick willie was in the white house there was never a poll that asked do you think the president is honest?
but then again during that administration that was probably the dumbest question you could ask.
poll answer: yes 0%, no 100% error % -0-
