Repeal Section 933 of the Internal Revenue Code

Although I favor the abolishment of the IRS altogether, and that the IRC should be substituted by a flat tax or a national sales tax to fund our national defense and what should be the very limited functions of the federal government, while the IRS is still on the books, the tax base should be on a level basis for all U.S. Citizens.

The U.S. Citizens of the Territory/Possession/Commonwealth/State (take your pick) of Puerto Rico already pay most federal taxes, such as Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment and income tax on non-Puerto Rico income. In 1952 the people of Puerto Rico approved a Constitution that sealed their permanent union with the rest of the States (you may go to my profile to read its preamble). This process of annexation of the territory was flawed in many ways. Ways that would take many pages to explain, but that I have already addressed in other posts.

While the politicians, political parties, lobbyists and interest groups wrangle about the status of the territories, it is only fair that while the IRC is still on the books, that all U.S. Citizens share our burden equally. Assuredly, this will be a great shock to the profiteers of the territories, which include many mainland corporations and individuals. But I am sure that Congress, in its collective psychosis, with a stroke of a pen can eliminate this exclusion from the books and remove a wedge that exists between distinct classes of citizens: those of the fifty states and those of the states-to-be. A wedge that has unleashed a torrent of ZOTs since I started here in Free Republic.

I urge all Freepers and their friends and families to contact your Congressmen to push for the repeal of Section 933 of the Internal Revenue Code. The matter of taxation without representation is mute since the territories are already taxed by the federal government in a number of ways. We can negotiate our Congressional delegations later.

We can do it one section at a time, starting with section 933.

Instead of repealing it, why don't we add exclusions for all the states and other terratories, too.
