I believe Guiliani could, because from what I understand his core is more of a libertarian (which explains some of his socialy left issues).
What concerns me most about Guiliani is his stance on the second ammendment. I dont know if he passes the smell test on it. I have far greater concern over than that the other social issues.
Guiliani is a great leader. He is a far better leader than McCain or HRC would ever dream about being.
Rudy's got too many skeletons in his closet, and it won't take much to open the door. That's a doomed candidacy.
Exactly.
Allen/Rice in 08
What do you mean RUMORS about McCain being nuts, they are not rumors it is the truth.
"It's the EV that count. Bayh/Richardson are the ones to watch-Indiana (11) and New Mexico (5) brings them within 2 EV's. I can see Richardson carrying Nevada-we are vulnerable in the South West IMHO."
Any combo of a Bayh/Warner/Richardson ticket hurts us, I think. That was the Clinton Gore strategy and it worked in 92. Simultaneously, we let the GOP be taken over by a nominal conservative, Pres. Bush. Then Perot. That created the perfect storm ushering in 8 years of Clintonism.
Geez, it could happen all over again...
And BJ Clinton didn't?
At best one of those guys will be in the second spot. None of them have any chance for the Presidential nomination in today's radicalized DP.
I'll bump to that!
Makes no difference. Rudy will be "Rudy who?" by 08 and neither of these guys will have a party to run with. They can not and will not win in GOP primaries. This is just off year summer time filler.
Rudy Guiliani is the only pro-abort who could win the GOP nomination. And he still ain't gonna.
That was my question. Where on earth does Hellary! have a 53 percent approval rating?
I think a properly conservative winner will emerge. I'm not jumping the Rudy / John train just because the MSM likes them 3 years early.
That's not infantile, just realistic and pragmatic.
My infantile remark was regarding the propensity on our side to ask democrats to be practical and recognize that the war on terror is the top issue, and yet at the same time disqualify a guy like Rudy because he is not 100% conservative, yep most likely a leader well suited for the continuing war on terror.
I don't think you were doing that, and didn't intend to suggest you did.
Allen/Pawlenty in 2008, although Rice as VP is fine too.
You are exactly correct. And don't forget that the media is conveniently overlooking the fact that McCain is solidly pro-life. If he were to become the GOP nominee, the media would turn on him in a New York minute. They'd slice him to pieces in 48 hours.
I agree. I'm all for a Condi in 08 ticket.
I'd puke if I voted for McCain. He will not get the nomination.
That has to be what we cling to. Hopefully the Ds wont be as smart as they were in 92....and hopefully we won't be as dumb, and hopefully the Perots of the world will sit this one out.
