In other news, the sun turned purple today. Seriously, whether they are lying or not, it has to have some effect on the Muslim community when their leaders speak out publicly against terrorism. It's better than what they WERE doing which was nothing. I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about this.

Eric, I have attended sermons by so-called "moderate" Islamic imans. I have grown up with these scoundrels for a few decades. To put it simply, you don't have the faintest clue of what you are talking about.

Evidently they have not read their own koran where it says, numerous times, words to the effect of "...kill them (non-moslems) wherever you find them."
Of course, to a moslem, it's not "terrorism" to just kill non-moslems, it's a virtue.

It is out of this faily typical tale of mob power-jostlings that Dylan has, unaccountably, woven "Joey," which paints a picture of Joey Gallo as alienated antihero reminiscent of West Side Story's "Gee, Officer Krupke" lyrics "He ain't no delinquent, he's misunderstood."
In the same essay, he also tears apart Dylan's Hurricane.

I understand what you're saying and my gut tells me that these leaders whistle a very different tune behind closed doors. But the point I am making is that even though they are probably saying these things under pressure, at least the message is getting out there. And at least it's better than the message they used to send "We condemn any violent activity by Muslims against innocent people...however, America must realize that their presence in the Middle East and friendship with Israel blah, blah, blah"
